Vulcanized Fibre is Sorry

AS MENTIONED ABOVE TEXAS KNIFE SUPPLY HAS PLASTIC ITS PERFECT,EASY TO WORK WITH, WHEN THEY HAVE IT IN STOCK,LOL,I GOT BLACK AROUND 2 WEEKS AGO,ALL THE OTHERS WERE OUT OF STOCK,I HATE Vulcanized Fibre ASWELL,I ASWELL TRYED THE RED AND BLACK IN MICARTA AND DONT CARE MUCH FOR IT EITHER,SEEMS NOT TO POLISH RIGHT FOR ME

Andy,

I haven't tried it between two black layers. I like the black though.
The only other color i have tried is blue and it was fine.
Red is the disappointing one.

Someone last year mentioned that they were using thick colored plastic plates that they had purchased from one of the big-box stores, like walmart or target.

I believe this would offer many advantages over vulcanized fiber, particularly water absorbtion.

I have seen a couple of my knives with vulcanized fiber shrink. I will no longer use it.

You're kidding me...that's it??? I thought that it actually served a "mechanical"
purpose. Wow...why bother then. Something else to come apart with hard use.
- Thanks!

Scale to tang fit up is the only reason I bought liner material as I thought it would let me get away with improperly fitting scales but I decided against using them and just pay more attention to getting the scale fit up right.
