Hello,

I was just looking about info on Wästikivi stones and found this study:
http://www.wastikivi.fi/Study.html

What would the equivalent grit for 800-1000 sand paper be?
keep in mind that this are european standards (finnish university).
I believe something like 2600-3000 Japanese .
How would it be in comparison to Roszutec or Coticule?

If you haven't seen this 'sticky' thread already, it might be worth a look: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/856708-The-Grand-Unified-Grit-Chart

Be sure to check his most recent post in the thread, as he updates the chart periodically.

I have no idea how your referenced stones might compare to one another, or to sandpaper, in terms of cutting/polishing performance. But the above 'grit chart' reference will at least allow comparison of actual grit sizes, according to different standards. With natural stones especially, it's very difficult to guage anything based on grit size alone, as they all have their own unique character.
