This handle is of Alligator Juniper. Alligator Juniper grows in the Guadalupe Mountains near where I live, and the Forrest Service issues firewood permits for it. It is used for firewood, but I decided to make a handle out of it. It is a medium hard wood but is really hard after K&G stabilized it.
What do you think?

I think it's very attractive .
Looks almost like the birch does up here.
Did you make the mosaic pins?

I did make the mosaic pins. I use ss thong hole tubing and epoxy ss wires in place.

Very cool Tom
I thought about trying to make them with spent brass casings .
Do you think it would work or is brass casings not a good material to start with?

By brass casings I understand you to mean brass cartridges. They should work fine. Be sure to clean the inside good so the epoxy will stick. I have used 30-06 cases with the primer punched out for thong hole tubing on a few knives.
I like the ss thong hole tubing because it comes in 12" lengths and I get the ss wires in 12" length. That way I make 12" of mosaic pins at once.
Back in the 1950's my Dad would have moved to Alaska but he couldn't convince mom.

It's not that bad up here as long as you can get used to 2 hours or half ass darkness in the summer .
And 4 hours of light In the winter lmao ;)

Thanks for the advice I guess it would be better to make them in 1 ft lengths so you can cut a bunch from it
