This is one of my favorite hunters. Forge W-2 blade carries my MS stamp, and measures 4 3/8", with a 4 1/4" handle of maidou burl. The guard is stainless, as is the finial. It is a take down constructed knife, unscrew the finial and it can be disassembled. Should the wood ever shrink, just tighten up the finial and it is snug again. The octagon handle with index finger grove provides excelent control and a secure grip. It comes with the sheath, and CONUS shipping for $450. I have two of these, and they are almost identical, wood from the same burl slab, both are available.

I can do paypal, and accept credit cards, but please add 3% for this method of payment. Checks are cool too!!

Thanks,
Bailey

Super nice looking knife, Bail.

Wish I had me some money. Somebody is going to get themselves a very sweet knife here.

That's an awesome looking knife!

Do you think my wife would REALLY mind if I blew the tax return on this??? She'd get over it, right?? :D

Where did the maidou burl come from. I've never heard of it. Looks great tho.

Really an awesome knife!

Maidou is from the Pterocarpus or Padouk family of woods and is related to Amboyna Burl but has a more golden color and is not quite as hard.

It must be a coincidence. I was just looking over some tables of information about tool steels, and W2 caught my eye, seeing as how it's a cabon steel with a high vanadium content. Interesting...very well executed.

Thanks guys......One of these is sold, still have one more. I made these to fill an order.....I just didn't read the order well enough as the customer wanted stag handles, and I made these with the same wood that was on the knife He saw originaly that prompted his order in the first place. So much for my memory...

The two are basicly identical. They even have the same hardening line that runs in a "V" shape from the ricasso onto the blade.

The W-2 steel is good stuff. Very tough for a high carbon tool steel, and very fine grained. The vanadium acts to reifne the grain as much as form carbides. It's a bear to finish, but takes as good a polish as any HC steels with a little patience.
