anybody decipher this????

also looking for a good reference on achieving diff. patterns on steel, besides trial and error

It's your business phone number:

the letters are numerically represented as: {23,3,18,18,6}

Combining the sequence, we get the number: 23318186

If you reverse and factor this, you get:

4*151*157*719

Which is the phone number:

(415) 115-7719

Do I win today's crypto award? A big kick in the pants...maybe.

:):):)

aahhhhhhhhhhhh........................NO

it has some reference to welding and paterning a billet

Weld, cut ,Stack, stack, fold? Ive been trying to figure that out too. Is this Larry Harley's Explanation for the feather Pattern On knife network?

Shawn

As far as achieving patterns the dvd's JD Smith has done goes into a great deal in depth study on pattern manipulation. It is available from Blade Gallery. Also have you tried modeling clay. Stack 2 or 3 colors of clay and fold it draw out and fold again. If you do not take it too far you can test basic patterns before forging. Lot cheaper too.

contact ron claiborne looks like this may be from him- i gotten directions from him in the past that were abbreviated in this manor coumicating in this form-- is a symptom of the fever, there are other side effects to scary to mention here.

That's what I was thinking I had seen it at. Couldn't find the reference again but yes, pretty sure that's feather. Bill Buxton I think can help you out...

is this some secret language, or am i just not hip to this abbriged knife making lingo, i think i said that right?????????????

Well, let's see. You're working and forging 2000 degree steel. You have limited time to take notes. I guess the logic is would you want to write "weld" or "w" to remind yourself what each step was so you can reproduce it if it goes well. Also, figure you're probably writing on the wall so wcssf takes up less room than weld, cut, stack, slice, fold :D Which, by the way, I think is what the ref is (just my guess). And I think it makes feather which is a modified W pattern.
