I will relist at a later date (as summer and summer watersports draw closer)

FS: Nikon AF-S 200/F2 G - the "chubby". This is version 1 of the lens which is now at version 2 new. Weighing about 7 lbs with the lens hood, it comes with a lens case large enough to hold a Nikon D800/e with battery grip.

When it was available, this lens sold for about $5100 new. It has all the usual exotic lens goodies: programmable buttons on the lens can focus, lock, or recall. There are 9 aperture blades, & the chubby has dust/moisture protection. A drop-in filter near the rear of the lens completes the package. The latest version sells for about $6,200 new.

The Chub is blazingly fast to acquire focus; it will do so before you know it has. This comes with a proviso, however: don't expect the lens to work great on a low end Nikon. You need a Nikon Pro camera to get this lens to sing - when I used it on a D7000 it was a disappointing combination; however, putting it on the D800/e fixed things right up. The lens plays well with teleconverters - again, think high end and get the most recent version of the TCs you are thinking of using.

Vibration Control gives you easily 3 stops; however, if you have the lens mounted on a tripod, learn from other's mistakss, and turn off VC. Gen 1 of VC really does make it well nigh impossible to acquire focus with VC on while the lens / camera is mounted on mono(tri)pod. This is corrected in the second version of VC, which auto-detects tripod mounting and turns VC off as needed.

As far as sharpness goes: the Chubster is well, great. In 2013, DxoMark proclaimed it the sharpest lens in the world, ever. In my own shooting, I find it not lacking anything.

I am the 3rd owner of this copy of the lens. It was sold to me about 5 years ago; just prior to selling, it was sent to NikonUSA for a general service and cleaning. Nothing was found to be out of order (I know the second owner, he's a buddy of mine.) I did not get to use it much, as my cancer started to come on at that time. I kept the lens, not knowing I had terminal cancer and thinking that any day now I'd be able to get out for a weekend and shoot. That never happened.

I've seen samples of this lens selling used for $3,599. Average seems to be about $2700 NET to seller. This copy is in mint condition; I don't have OBM, so I would downgrade for that. There are no visible scratches in glass elements, coatings, or metal finish. Pictures come out perfect. It requires the same fine tune that my other high end lenses required on the 800/e.

Same is the case with the TC-20EIII, except I bought this USD 600 teleconverter new and hardly used it. It gives you a 400/F4. I'll sell the lens and TC as a package deal, both for $2550.00 NET to me, via PayPal goods and services or cash only.

I'm also open to reasonable offers; make one if you wish, but reasonable is the guiding word here.

I would suggest on a lens of this caliber that you fly to the Cleveland / Akron region for a weekend to pick up the lens. That's your call; but once the lens leaves my hot little hands, it's your lens, your problem, and your responsibility.

Serious buyers only. Please don't waste my time or yours. Happy to provide test shots, pictures of the lens itself, or whatever you need to make your decision. This is a chance to get a lens that is in every pro sports shooter's bag, for a fraction of the cost.

In summary: 200/F2 G + TC-20EIII $2550 NET TO SELLER via PayPal G&S OR CASH. SHIPPING IS UP TO BUYER TO ARRANGE, I SUGGEST USPS FULL INSURANCE. CONUS ONLY. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SELL FOR ANY REASON, INCLUDING THE COLOR OF THE SKY ON THE DAY YOU CONTACT ME.

PM me, or email strongmanbob(AT)GMailDOTcom . Thanks for stopping by and reading.
