What steel would you guys like to see on the next run of the W&SS Forum neck knife?

What about handle materials?

Any other suggestions?

Let me know - I am hoping to get the steel ordered sometime during June and get the ball rolling!

Although I know that this was originally designed as a backup woods knife, I was planning on using it as more of an around town knife - so for me I would prefer a handle material more like carbon fiber than micarta - a little more decorative but maybe not as useful. I love the micarta on my bushmaster, but variety is good. Blue, red g10, etc.

I am beyond thrilled at this announcement....

All material suggestions are welcome, guys.

The first run was CPM3V.

BUT...I am definitely open to ideas/suggestions. I reserve, of course, the right to go with the most popular materials.....so, that said, make your voice heard!

I won't know what's the most popular if nobody posts. ;)

:D

Have a look at this data sheet I made this morning....for help in deciding on steels:

M4 is definitely an option - expensive stuff and hard to get, but great edge-holding.

I'd prefer CPM154, but it sounds like it's already been done.

What are your thoughts on the new Carpenter steels?

My vote would be for a D-2 / version with wood handlles . For outdoors men . 154 would be a close second . Some steels are just realy difficult to sharpen .

Yes the first run was 3V

Here's my suggestions:
CPM154 or even better, stainless damascus. Maybe ZDP189 (not likely).
Keep it simple with the skeletonized handle to keep costs down somewhat. People can put on their own handle preference or you could offer that as an extra fee.
Most importantly, a full flat grind on the blade.

Thanks for asking!

CPM154 or S30V or 3V with a custom forced patina option.

I would probably be in for a stainless version as well as a 3V with a cool forced patina option. I am also really jonesin for another EDC and Karda K5 run.
