W00T! Proxy score!

I have 2 BWM LE and 2 CG. is the the basic 11 more of the CG thickness or LE? I assume since its a 11 its a bit longer then my BWM?

What's a proxy and how do I get one?

A proxy is someone who's attending a show and willing to either buy or place an order for you.

It's something that's not very easy to get even before a show unless you have a prior relationship with an attendee, because there's both work that they have to do for you and they need to trust that you won't back out of the deal without paying for the knife/knives they buy for you. If you authorize/arrange for Busse Combat to bill you directly and ship to you in advance of the show, the work for a potential proxy is much reduced -- I didn't know they did that until the last Knob Creek, but if they continue to, then while it'll take the crew a few days after the show to send out your knives, that's the best way to go. You don't have to send payment to the proxy and they don't have to front the money, deposit your payment, and send out a package.

It's much more difficult to get a proxy after a show has started -- the people you're trying to contact aren't at home, but in a motel/hotel, and they may not be checking the boards to even see your request.

B-11 specs posted at the Yard, I'm copying here (thanks SnotPig!):
Exposed metal: 11"
Cutting Edge: 9.75" ish
(my) Thickness @ ricasso: 0.253"

My BWM is right at 10.6" exposed and 9.4" cutting edge.....so blade and cutting edge are right at .4" longer each in comparison.

Thickness on mine is .252" just ahead of the plunge grind, a hair thicker on ricasso, length at about 11.25" from handle to tip. Handles like a dream.:thumbup:

Have you compared it size wise to a NMFBM?

Will, were there many of the Asm version?

Guy -- Very few of the asym, because they were all hand-ground by Jerry himself, according to what he said today at the booth. There were two offerings of the asym's (so far), and in neither offering were there many more than maybe a dozen or so knives, certainly under 20 from how it looked to me--just guessing.

Ankerson -- No comparison between this knife and an NMFBM. The B11 is like lightning where the NMFBM is more like an earthquake, if you get my meaning. Would make a terrific companion piece to the NMFBM, though, in terms of addressing both the lighter machete-class range of use coupled with the heavier "hand axe" application of the NMFBM, IMO. Re-reading your question on the size comparison, the blade length should be almost identical, but the NMFBM blade is significantly wider, I'd say--don't have one with me to compare.

Thanks,

That's exactly with I was thinking from looking at the photos.

I will do a side by side comparison and chopping videos once I get mine from my Proxy. :D

Thanks for posting the thickness. I was hoping it would be right where it is at. .25 ish makes for great performance to weight ratio in my opinion.

I am thinking it is too much to hope for that my Proxy managed to get an ASM grind version ..... heck I don't know if he managed to get one yet regardless of grind ..... anyway .... no worries if not ..... the last thing a proxy needs is the pressure of what happens if he could'nt land one ....

Nice score OP  Your HogFu is still strong ....:D

Got me a B11 in Basic Black! (the asymmetric version has not been offered yet, presumably waiting for Jerry's arrival)

The Show Special price was only $257! Keep that in mind when you see them on the Exchange next week.

They are for sale on the EE. I won't post the price they ask for !

I have also heard they were $267. So I'm not really certain. <shrug>

As for the Exchange, and eBay.... well, that is just the free market at work. A willing buyer and a willing seller will arrive at a mutually acceptable price.

Well my proxy did an amazing job and snagged me an ASM grind B11 done by Jerry and put a deposit down for me on a KZCG ....:thumbup::):)

Many thanks JJ .... Very grateful ....

The system allowing you to use a proxy and pay via the shop is a superb one .... makes life much easier for all ....

SO LOOKING FORWARD to these arriving and getting a work out ....

I think Amy wrote down "267" before the tax (can't recall what the tax was at this point.:(

Same price for assym and regular edge!
