Here is the latest one out of the shop. W2 blade, differentially hardened without clay and polished out, 416 ss fittings and gem grade, stabilized Koa from Mark at BurlSource.

This knife was built to my original drawing that was sent to Joe Paranee... in the brainstorming phase of the Paranee/Wheeler fighter project. This is the blade from the hand sanding and etching videos I threw together.

I plan on sending it to Coop for a proper photo, but wanted to share this here for now. :)

Thanks!!! :)

Dude that knife is incredible and the attention to detail you have kills me. The video might look like crap but you can still tell!

Beautiful Nick.. Like Mr. Brand says, your attention to detail is mind boggling.
Great idea with these little videos. It's a really personal way to show your work.

nice knife Nick
i got a piece of that KOA too and cant wait to get a project that calls for it

mark sure does seem to be doing a good job of keeping great wood up for grabbs

Less talky, more knifey! :p

Ha, awesome work Nick. REALLY awesome. Insanely cool hamon and polish, crazy sick piece of koa, and of course a sublime design, expertly built. Looking forward to seeing Coop's photo.

That's one gorgeous fighter and that Koa is killer!

Dude - post a pic - youtube blocked at work!

Roger

Here you are, Roger--all I have are these of the handle:

Appreciated Will! I'm sure the vid shows the great chatoyance in that wood, which still photos can never really capture. But the stills do show beautiful grain and colour, and that hamon was always going to be off the hook. I'll be interested to hear how Nick finished this Koa.

Roger

Very nice Nick I to would like to here how you finished the Koa and I really like what you are doing with the video's

Love the way Nick just keeps on tripping out on that Koa! :D And wow Maestro what can I say about that gorgeous killer knife.
I sure am a happy camper with my Wheeler/ Paranee fighter! It's all good, real good fit, finish, balance. The African Black Wood handle is finished to perfection! The knife dances in my hand. I've been waiting on a sheath to post my impressions but I thought it an appropriate time to express my thanks to Joe who started it all and Nick who executed the project so masterfully... no small feat! 10 peerless gems! :D

Thanks guys! :)

As far as finishing... just turn up the volume at 3:13 :p ;)

Actually it wasn't anything fancy, just took extra time. I hand sanded the handle with Brownell's Tru-Oil starting at 320X, and kept doing that until I got to 2000X. I wiped a little bit of Watco Natural Danish oil on it and let it sit for awhile, then sanded with 2500 grit paper, then hand buffed with a cotton cloth and Rottenstone.

Mother nature did the really tricky part. ;) :D

I just watched the video with Angi, and we were laughing at how much I was spazzing out about the wood... but it really is THAT nice! ;) :D

Thanks folks! :)

I watched it this morning at 4:30; It was too early to type. I'm back to say that this is a beautiful/incredible knife (almost as nice as Joe's with the G10 :D)!!!

always a pleasure seeing a new Wheeler knife.
