W2 and Ironwood Hunter

Very nice hunter from both aesthetic and ergonomic perspectives.
No surprises considering your teacher.

I prefer at lease a 600 grit finish for a collectible grade knife and
consider a 400 grade acceptable and perhaps even preferred for a user.

In any case and most important, the finish needs to be well executed in respect to sand lines being straight,
unifom and no hooking.
You have demonstrated here (IMO) that you have mastered the fundamentals for laying down a 400 grit finish.

Keep up the good work.

Hey Chris - my preference would be for 600 grit. I find that a good combination of an attractive finish that is easy to maintain on a working knife. 400 wouldn't be a deal-breaker by any stretch - but given the choice, I'd go up a level.

Roger

I agree with Roger on this one.
As he stated by no means a deal breaker BUT it would definetely looked more finished at a higher level.
Looks more like bead blasted finish to me (but my vision is getting worse by the day).
Overall I really like the profile and the guard - nice looking wood as well.

This is the reason I stay a collector and not try my hand at making - I'm not sure if I would know which end to handle by my 6th knife.

Keep up the good work and the rewards will follow

Hey, Chris.

I really like the knife. I kind of like the satin look a 400 grit finish leaves--and it looks to be well done.

Looks really nice.

Thanks, Tad. I enjoy chatting with you when I see you at JP's. See you at the Arkansas Show. I gotta look at your recent pieces.
