Is bar or sheet stock available in W2? If so...where. I have a bit of round coming from Don Hanson..but just wondering. Thanks

John, if it's out there I can't find it. I've looked in every crack and under every rock.

I still have a bunch of big rounds though.:D

I contacted Diehl a couple of years ago and they did have it listed. However when you call to order they substitute W-1. They tell you up front but no W-2 in stock (unless something has changed).

Don is the best way to go but forging it down can be a little intimidating, (LOVE MY HAMMER LOVE MY PRESS>>>LOVE MY HAMMER LOVE MY PRESS>>>)

I second sending it out to Michael Pikula, he knows what he is doing! Plus he's an awesome dude :D

See! I just knew those son-of-a-guns sold me W-1! And, they sold it to me as W-2! :grumpy:

I'll second that! Michael has forged around 10 boxes of W2. That's a lot of steel. Great guy to deal with also.

Troop, that just might explain it. W1 is good steel but it ain't W2!

Michael did a great job on a box of Don's W2 for me. I am extremely happy with it. Now if I could only find some time to start working with it, life would be perfect. -Doug

Flat Stock W2 Exists but it is  P-R-I-C-E-Y!. you can pick it up at KnifeKits.com site

Even when they are advertising W-2 I would still send it out and get it spectro'd unless they guaranty the chem and send a cert with it. Even then I might still send off a piece just to make sure. Not that I think they are trying to deceive anyone, they may have been themselves.

I'm pretty sure that the Knifekits W-2 is the Diehl "W-2". I asked for the composition of the Knifekits W-2, and it is the same specs that Diehl lists for their "W-2".

Ah thanx for warning then about the knifekits W2. I'd hate to pay that for a piece only to get W1 Mod!
