Hi guys,
long time no see.
I've got an interesting little bowie for sale.
blade is forged by Milan Mozolic in W2, about 60Hrc, diferentially hardened.
it is 175mm long, bit over 6mm thick (converted to inches, 6.9inch long, 0.23 inch thick).
handle is made from boxwood with a brass guard, ivory collar and pins.
sheath in thick vegetable tanned leather, beeswax impregnated.
those were the stats and facts.
----------------------------------
from the measurements, you can see it is a compact little beast - W2 blade is thick and wide, but elegant.
Milan does his job well. though not visible from the photos, blade has a light hamon.
curvaceous handle is big enough to accommodate a large hand, comfortable even in reverse grip.
boxwood (buxus sempervirens) is shrub known for it's extreme density, hardness and elasticity (easily polished to high luster), prized amongst carvers and musical instrument makers.
its small size and capricious growth/seasoning (knots, cracks and other lovely things), not to mention uninteresting pale color, make it a challenge to use.
so, back to our little knife.
I've hidden the brass safety pin with ivory domes and drilled out all the knots/cracks, replacing them with domed ivory pins.
handle was then fumed with nitric acid to achieve this creamy reddish brown - it also accentuates the grain which flows well with schreger lines of the ivory collar.
brass guard is textured and patina was applied.
sheath is rigid, tight, wide enough to prevent snagging of the guard on clothing or vegetation. knife sits securely, without the risk of falling out.

price is 375USD shipped.
please PM me for questions and suggestions.
have a nice day,
Mile
