Heat treated a few W2 blades a little while ago. They were triple normalized, brought to non magnetic a fourth time and very quickly quenched into Park's 50 quenching oil. Agitated quench, meaning I moved the blades back and forth,(not sideways) until they were cool enough to touch with bare hands. Then into the heat treat oven for a two hour temper at 400. Just for the heck of it, they were thrown into a cooler full of dry ice overnight(digital thermometer showed the blades got down to -109), then another two hour temper at 400.
Question I have is; is yet another temper necessary, or is two plenty?
