Here's a W2 "Sombrero" that should complete the outfit of any discriminating hunter.
Hand-rubbed hamon, 416 stainless guard and mortised Stabilized California figured Walnut.
I used some flush filed bullseye pins to keep the whole shootin' match together.

Very clean as usual Karl. Nice hamon as well!

I forgot to mention that this is the knife I forged for a demonstration at my 'open house' I did in my new neighborhood out in the sticks in Minnesota.

Someone had a question about my assembly so I offered these for their satisfaction.
I pin every single knife I can for my assembly comfort and for added strength.

Here you can see the full length tang and pinned handle/guard junction.

The 'bulls eye' pins I used on this one are just like the one shown, but I didn't bother to take pictures of the 'bulls eye' when I did the Sombrero. When I peen the pins, there's no stress on the handle material as it all goes directly to the stainless inserts, yet I still get the holding power of the pins. Sometimes I dome the pins, but in this case I filed them flush after peening.

Nice hunter, Karl! W2 and walnut, two of my favorite materials. Looks like a comfortable knife made for many tasks.

Sweet little hunter, Karl:thumbup:. Has your archery season started out there yet? Mine has come and gone:grumpy:.

Really nice work Carl. Looks like it would be a pleasure to use as well. A question on construction... are you cutting a shelf all the way around the ricasso or just top and bottom, I coudn't tell from the pics. Thanks, Ben

Karl, I will add this to your packaged deal. The history of the knife means a lot in my book.

I had to pick this up from Karl after he posted. If I wanted to have Karl make me a hunter, I don't know what more I would have ask for than this one. W2 and walnut both favorites. My size hunter. Love the guard.

His package (wooden box) arrived today. If you haven't recieved a knife directly from Karl, it is a treat. My mailman said he had never delivered a wooden box before. You have to get tools out to open it (30 wood screws hold it together).

The mailing container, the nice sheath Karl makes, the documentation with the knife's image on the stationary, Andersen Forge logo on zippered case, plus the time and skills he places in his build, bullseye pins...all make for a special package. Karl takes the time to please.

Thanks Karl! I am sorry I took my deer last weekend, now. Would like to field test this, but I am sure the time will come.
