Yeah... Seems like I can't find W2 anywhere. If any of you guys know if anywhere it would help a lot. I'm looking for .187 X 2. Seems like NJ is out of everything of use. Thanks for the help guys!

dang... I'd there anything in the future? Is there another good source like a specific type of file?

No new source of W2, industry stopped producing it 15-20 years ago. I got hold of a bunch and sold it for 5-6 years. Then Aldo started having it made. There has been some of the old stuff I sold in the Exchange section here recently. Might want to keep an eye there.

That would need to be forged though as most of that stock was round bar (I bought some of that but I'm waiting until my skills come up enough to warrant using that stash). If you're waiting for specific sizes of flat bar for stock removal, patience is key. W2 is very popular so it goes quickly. The time to stock up is when you see it.

Last batch, I bought $1000.00 worth of it. Still have a few bars left. I'm waiting for the new batch and will order more.

W1 is plentiful in round bar in the form of drill rod. It is W2 without vanadium. So very similar. It is also cheap, I have an order showing up tomorrow for $2.72 per pound delivered.

I really like W1 as well. If you're buying some, just make sure you ask for the steel composition. W1 can have quite a range of carbon content. The stuff I sourced out has 1% carbon.

^ That's what I'm learning to forge on for the most part... while saving some of your good stuff for later!

Aldo's W2 is also great stuff from what my testing has shown. I like the idea of using a round bar to forge from though...

The W1 is really competitively priced too... I have loads of different sizes for making random stuff in the shop.
