Here is something a little new for me. I handle wrapped my own camp knife, and I love it. So, I thought I would do a wrapped knife, and try to catch the best of both worlds. The handle wrap gives it a bit of a rustic style, but the blade itself is hand polished and etched to show the hamon. The knife is W2 steel, and the forge scale is left on the flats.

The handle is epoxy soaked jute wrap. Under the wrap is a piece of canary wood that sticks out the end a bit. I like how it looks and it is very grippy in the hand. At the front of the knife is a turks head knot. The details of it get kind of lost since it is also made out of the jute cord, but it is there and provides a nice stop for your hand.

I intended to do a basic sheath, but when I got into it, I made it a little more elaborate than I anticipated. I just have to throw the tooling on when I am making the sheath. It is 8-9oz hand tooled and stitched leather. The design on the sheath is made to simulate both forging marks and a hamon. Hopefully it looks ok.

Dimensions
Blade - 4 1/4" tip to knot
OAL - 8 1/2'

Price - $175 shipped. I prefer paypal but will accept check or money order.

The first to post here "I'll take it!" gets it.

This one Is a "Beauty" Matt ! The Jute Wrapped & Canary Wood Handle has that Tribal look and with the Forged Scale and the Haman really make for a NICE looking Blade, And your Leather work Is Beautiful ! This Knife & Sheath are a Steal at this price, Great Job Matt,

Thanks guys.
I like the combination but I am not sure it is for everyone.

Beautiful work!

I've been jute wrapping a few tools around here and I've found that a quick pass with a lighter removes the "fuzz" from the jute and gives a bit better appearance and better visual detail. Had to use up the hand-twist cordage practice somehow.

Just wanted to share a bit of info.

Thanks everyone. Holmesmade, that is a great tip. I will have to give it a try. Robino, I guess I will have to make a few more of the same shape with a different type of handle.
