Just wondering why I don't see any type of pinning on wa handles? Most look like they rely solely on glue to be held into place.

They don't really need pins. The glue seals the handle from contaminants, and is more than adequate to keep everything together.

It also makes it easier to replace the handle at a later date if it becomes damaged.

Many on Japanese kitchen knives aren't even glued. Those are just burned in for a tight fit and possibly just have wax in there to help keep water out.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gunna put one through mine lol

I've used pins in the past; nothing wrong with it.

Overkill maybe, but a mosaic pin looks nice.

Hopefully I'll never have to remove the handle!

I don't pin my WA handles. I do grind some shallow notches in the tang to grip the epoxy better, and I don't feel even that is necessary. A kitchen knife is unlikely to take enough shock to ever loosen on it's own.
