Wahoo I bought a trip hammer!

I couldn't book the pomeranians but I did get Fluffy.

Fluffy is not happy.

congrats on the hammer Nick, and Sweany, next post for you is 1,000 :)

Still feelin pretty under the weather here, but really wanting to get back into the shop and use the "toy" I picked up just before getting sick, it's a 65# champion. Makes quick work of Wrought iron when set properly :)

Congratulations you young whipper snapper. That is going to just about fill out your shop requirements -- NOT. If you aren't really careful your dad is gonna have to build him a shop ourside so you can tear down that wall and expand into his woodworking area pal. Glad you got it Nick and you are right it is really nice to know the story behind a tool. If you need some help converting to a motor give me a yell.

Thanks fellas-

I'm sure an air hammer would be great... I got to use a "Tom Clark" at the ABS Washington hammer-in, and it was almost unbelievably controllable. But I don't have the $8000-10,000 laying around for one just yet.

I'd REALLY like to have a Nazel 2b... but those are few and FAR between... usually fetching $10,000-$15,000 at that.

I think this 50 will be a really nice addition to my shop, accept like Bill mentioned, I may have to tear down a wall or two to make room for it! lol

Thanks :)

Just roll it in on a couple, three rounds of W2 and have something to make a few knives out of when you're all done! :D

I've had my little 25# LG for 15 years and wouldn't trade it for the world......

Hey Nick, I was just trying to stir up a little friendly discourse
with the air hammer, little giant comments. I thought some of you Little Giant owners would jump on me for such sacrilage. The L.G. hammers are a fine machine. I got to use one at Cedar Lakes with Herb Derr some years back. I have a Kahn and son Big Blue 100lb. air hammer that I find to be very usefull. Have fun with your new machine. Fred

Hey Fred-

You just have to kick me harder! lol

I wouldn't trash talk the Big Blue... it looks to be a fine piece of equipment! In fact, our local "Nickel ad" classified had one listed a couple years ago. I wish I had the money, I would have bought it.

From all the research I've done, it seems there are many mechanical hammers that are better -out of the box- than LG's, like Beaudry and Champion... but they sure are hard to find.

I'm going to take my time with reworking this old thing, and try to get it dialed in like some I've seen. I've seen some that were so eratic you wouldn't want to get within 25 feet of them, and others so well tuned, you can stick a book of matches under the dies and barely make them scrape past each other (come to think of it, Moran does that in one of his videos).

I'd like to see some pictures of your Big Blue Fred! :)

I can be a little "dead pan" with my attempts at humor sometimes. Good thing we have people like I.G. to keep it real. he he Post some pictures as you progress with the L.G. Fred
