Wait 'til you See What Is Coming Next!!!

I'm feelin' the love from all directions.

Margaret Cheever, eat your heart out.

With the choiless version, especially with the edge brought closer to the guard, I can close my eyes with a full grip and use the knife knowing that I wont have to place my cut. I can just put my index finger on the item to be cut, move back 1/2 inch and my edge is indexed. I can saw without any chance of the media hanging up on anything.

it's seriously a dream come true.

With this size knife, I actually prefer the choked-up grip as it changes the leverage you have on cuts. With a finger in the choil, you can index with your eyes closed just the same.

 Taking away the choil absolutely destroys the aesthetics, too. Goes from being an extremely attractive design, to a very awkward, almost fake looking one.

I agree, it isn't a Busse without a choil. The choiless one looks like an Alien... from outerspace.

I think the opposite. In my opinion the TB without the choil looks a lot sturdier. A real work horse. I like it better than the one with choil. I hopefully will end up with two anyway...:D

I would like to see a choilless SAR4...
as for the TB, the one with the choil is looks just....NICER. ---(IMHO)

Hitting the sauce rather early... are we not?:p

yes, but in a compromised grip. i know that it's a detail grip, not a power grip so that's not necessarily a drawback, but that's my main problem with it. if you can keep a grip on the main handle and have the edge moved closer to your hand, I always prefer it.

i can't really argue with point that the choil serves a purpose. if you've never had problems with the choil using the knife in the standard grip and can't imagine ever having them then it's a valuable feature with little to no drawbacks.

for a combat knife, and any belt knife that I edc I consider it necessary for it to be able to be:
-used at night with no light source
-used when weak, exhausted, and potentially wounded
-used with the handle slathered in oil, sweat or blood

for the bottom two a compromised grip is dangerous. you need as much hand control over it as possible, since shifting the muscle exertion onto individual muscles that are in a fatigued state increases the chance of slippage and injury. for me, any knife that fits into the batac/sjtac/tbtac catagory needs to be as functional as possible from the main grip.

By all means love and cherish the choil. having the option of with or without makes this offering like 9 million times cooler then any other offering I've seen from busse combat to date, and I'm pretty darn stoked to see it. if this becomes a common thing I might have to get back into the shifting rotation of edc's like I used to. I've had 30 models of busse combat knives go through my hands that I can recall off the top of my head (not including extra editions like bme, ffbm, hogfbmle), plus a few swamp rat and scrap yard models, most of which were used before resale. after a lot of shifting through the various forms and configurations I came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to use a knife with a large choil on it anymore becuase it always consistently bugged me. (hence my current customized sar5)

so for someone who swore off 100% of busse's edc production models (not including things like the warboar and ak47 or the large choppers) this is really freaking awesome.

also I agree that the choiless version looks more like a tank :D
not as "pretty", but it has it's own draw.

AND this fits the exact custom model I wanted to buy but held off on when I first put in my custom order 3 years ago. I'll have thin/thick version of (almost) the same knife.

Hell buy the knife and I can add a choil 2 for the price of one plus a dolla,, I do it all the time,, say I'm gonna make a woods knife,, get done,, say. That don't look right,, add oversized monsta choil,, instant $$$$$! I find it hard to refrain,,

can anybody help a Hog out?

My cup runneth over!

Thanks to all 47 of you. :D

I like the wide blade, and the clip point. Like the choilless version, with a smaller ricasso as promised.

Not real sure about the scalloped spine, though.

The choiled proto looks like a Satin Jack TAC Variant. I don't know about you, but I have several beautifully choiled Busses, and while the SAR5 was a disappointment, this looks far more Busse-like . And I haven't been the biggest TAC handle fan, so the choiless TAC may win me over. :) Atleast I'd give her a try...
