Dear All,

What's the waiting period for a HI khuk to come in the mail? HI has already charged the card and my eyes are getting sore staring at all the pretty pictures of the knife that I ordered. BTW, I ordered a WWII 18"!

The wait is killing me!

I understand that Mr. Bill is ill. Is he the only gentleman that manages exportation? Thanks in advance for all your responses.

Don't sweat it too much, Willy:) You're knife will be there quicker than most. The knife you are getting is coming from Reno, NV. Kind of a layover for khuks when they come from Nepal;) Normally, it only takes a few days in the cont. US for a knife to reach you as the Martino's use priority mail. With Uncle Bill being sick, however, his wife Yangdu is probably spread pretty thin right now. where do you live and when did you order your WWII?
BTW, the WWII is one of my favorites. great choice:)

Jake

edit to add a great big "Welcome!". please forgive my manners. welcome to the cantina. we're glad you've stopped in.

I ordered it Mar 14th. Yes, I am pleased with the prospect of the WWII! I've been snooping around the HI branch of the blade tree for a while, even spoke up in one of the thread, but mostly I've enjoyed listening to you folks go on about this or that.

-Glad to be onboard, or soon to be onboard once the WWII arrives!

Yours,
Willywonka

Welcome Willy! It can be a bit painful waiting sometimes. What's worst is when the post man comes, the post man leaves, and you're left without any new toys ... only the hope that MAYBE tomorrow you'll get to play crooked leaf springs.

But you'll know it when you see it, that's for sure. :D

Yeah, unfortunately business is not running as normal right now. Still be much, much faster than ordering something hand forged from most people. ;) It will definitely be worth waiting for!

You're going to love the WWII, Willy. It's probably the best large utility blade HI offers, IMHO. I carry an 18" Kumar made WWII in the truck when i go camping. It was my 3rd HI khuk ( i now have over 20). Very dependable and can tackle just about every chore you throw at it. Pair it up with a pen knife and a good swiss army knife and you can stay gone for weeks;) Keep us posted and maybe write up a little review when you get it and try it out. Like Kismet always says, read the safety sticky first;)

Welcome too the Cantina/Psycho Ward Willy!!!! :D

I'll chime in along with the other guys...
It's true that Uncle Bill is very seriously ill and can't do anything right now, not even supervise.
But the problem, if there is a problem right now with shipping, is because Yangdu, Bill's wife, Soulmate, and Chief Caretaker is busy worrying about and taking care of Uncle Bill.
According too a post made by Uncle Bill a short time ago things will be looking better in a week or so.
Uncle Bill will be home, Yangdu will be back too somewhat normal duties and then too top everything off, Pala, Yangdu's father will be coming down from New York and there will be some serious sales!!!!

But it's still tough to wait, believe me, we all know your angst and wherewith it comes, ahng tuff, it'll get there!!!! :D ;)

If something's happened, it'll get straightened out soon.
The WWll 18" was a good pick.
Welcome.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

-You know I live in NYC; wonder if Pala is coming to the town. I'd be willing to show him around seeing that my girl is off for the next month on a gig; wouldn't mind the company.

Good choice...WWII's are an all around favorite here for general use.

Patience is a virtue...

Debt is good...

Willy?

You're not gonna be using the WW II in Central Park are you?  :p ;) :D

Do you get upstate much where you can put the khuk to work?

Lots of Spirits of the Old Ones live in the woods and hills in that part of the country, if you stop and observe they let themselves be known, at least too me.:)

Still desperately waiting for the WWII Kuhkri. Hope it comes soon. Need a bit of joy in my life.

Willy

Would somebody send him a WW2?
I KNOW somebody has one or two they dont even remember buying at this point...

Where are you? I assume you're outside the US? My Khuks have always made the trip from Reno to Indiana in 2 days (that is to say, no more than two days from the moment I email Yangdu).

If it hasn't come by now I think something's wrong. You live in the Continental US? Email Aunt Yangdu about the problem. She may not get back to you for several weeks; she's leaving on a trip.

But it will get straightened out. I'm sorry for your difficulty. With HI, such things are flukes, not the norm. Their customer service is second to none.
Edit- Ok, you live in NYC- yes, something is wrong. Please write HI.

I just sent Yangdu and email myself asking about the Dui Chirra I got from the 4/7 Specials. I figured the delay was from her being busy but wanted to make sure the DC was accounted for. If WillyWonka hasn't received his HI by now he should definitely email Yangdu.

Bob

WillyWonka I'm also sorry for the delay in your new WW II getting to you. The guys here are right you do need to email Yangdu. But there may be a delay in her getting back to you. If you don't hear from her today then write again tomorrow.

Sadly to say Uncle Bill who wore many hats including overseeing the shipping staff has passed to the other side.
Uncle Bill was cremated per his beliefs and Yangdu will be on her way Monday to take his ashes back home to Nepal.
If you don't hear back from her this weekend don't give up hope.
HI normally has the best customer service in the world but in this time of confusion and grief it's understandably that normal doesn't apply right now.:(

Willywonka, I really feel for you. I live in Australia and usually have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for my khuks to get to me. The wait is painful.

The longest I ever had to wait for a HI khuk was one that hadn't arrived after 6 or 7 weeks. Bill and I thought it had been lost. Bill being Bill sent me another one free of charge (which later I eventually paid for and you will see why).

Well, Murphy's law applied. I remember the day he posted it the original one arrived. For some reason it had done a round trip through Germany or something and had been travelling for 6 or 7 weeks through Europe. I also remember asking Bill to do the same thing with all my future HI purchases. It allowed me to have a legitimate excuse to justify to my wife why I received two khuks at a time - "it was all the Post Office's fault dear!" The bad news was that Bill couldn't guarantee that the Post Office would do that in future.

As Yvsa has explained, the present sad circumstances are probably and understandably the cause for your delay. But don't worry, you will get your Khukuri.

Dear all,

How do I email Yangdu? Better question: Should I email her in light of all that's transpired in her life?

I think...

It's still a business. I figure she'll get to it when she's back and ready to start business again.
