Waki Sharpness

I am strongly considering getting another one and sending over to Bark River for a razor job makeover on it :D

Mine did this right out of the wrapper!!!

Its definitely sharp...but the edge is quite thick and not at the optimal angle for chopping just yet. But thats fine because I like to put my own edge on it.

all mine came with clean hair cutting sharp edges:thumbup: also the fit and finish is awesome, as well as the balance. one of the very best short swords I ever swung!

now I just need to find those darn' ZOMBIES!:D

It's gonna be awful tough to find any zombies wandering the streets, they've heard of the Waki and they are undercover ;)

:D:D

my waki is now acceptably sharp, and about 2/3 of the way to the geometry of an real wakizashi. i think i'll stop here. it should still be able to take a little abuse, though i won't be chopping any trees down with it unless they're tiny.

sorry no pics of the gallon milk bottle i cut with it, but an easy one handed swing cut it in half cleanly and effortlessly. i need to try some pull cuts when i get more things to cut up, but i suspect it will be much better than previous

My Waki came in at a reasonably sharp level. It can fairly easily slice paper and shave leg hair. There was a small part close to the tip where it was catching on paper, but it ended up just being a small burr. I straightened it out on a stone and stropped it a few times and the entire blade is sharp. And as much as I am OCD about sharpness on my folders (all my folders must whittle hair relatively easily or it bothers me), I personally don't have a want for my Waki to be any sharper.
