For me , I love this country , we have a bit of everything , we even have cities , but I dont go them places much

there is just too much to really show much of anything , my wife and I spent 15 years wandering around , this is really just a flash over where we have been .. there is just so much , even the nothingness of the plains is full when you look into it , not at it .

Hope it inspires you some tho .

Myal you remind me I need to step away from work, leave the desk behind and get out and experience this beautiful country of ours a bit more often.
I am sorry to hear your wife is struggling. I honestly do not know how I would handle it in your position. But I guess it is not the easy times that mke us strong. Best wishes to you and your family.

Myal, what an absolutely kockout 'flash over' of your amazing country ... and of the times your family has enjoyed. The expanse is hard to imagine but I will say your pictures caught it so well. Myself, I like the free camping and almost all of my sites are out of the way too.

The tree growth is ... unique to my experience for sure. You have gone to much trouble in sharing this tour of the back country, coast beaches and even brumbies with us. Much has surprised me about the geography, in fact. I cannot thank you enough. OK, I am now conflicted over my bucket list! :D

Insects. Are the squiggles on the tree early in the post made by insects? Do you get umpteen species of mosquitoes hatching throughout the summer? Horseflies, deerflies, blackflies, noseeums? Just curious.

You mention ferals ... feral what (the tasty ones)?

feral goats :) they are specially good eating when they have been grazing on saltbush .

bugs we have plenty of , but it seems that we dont get bothered by them too much . we have a lot of allergies and sensitivies in the family so insect repellents are not used , mum used a head net to keep bugs off . more than that tho , we dont use .

the bugs that mark the scribley barks are part of the life of the tree I think , they only can live for their grub part of their life under the bark of that kind of tree .

What town do you live in, if you don't mind saying?

This is a Hunter Valley vineyard, but don't recall exactly where the photo was taken since it was taken years ago. Perhaps west of Pokolbin?.

Aberdeen, I had to look that one up. I think it's unlikely I've been to that exact town, but I've been as close as Muswellbrook to catch Denman Road on the way to Mudgee.
I've worked at the Ravensworth mines and the Ashton mine that are between Singleton and Aberdeen. You would pass right by them on the New England Highway.

Thanks for sharing pics, your wife is lucky to be able to get out to some amazing spots and lucky to have you there for support. I was cooped up in an ICU last year for a week with a broken back. My view was of a wooded hill in York pa. I just wanted to get out. Great therapy for body and mind to feel the wind on your face and to feel the warmth of the sun and loved ones. You are a good man.

My Grandfather went to school for his whole education at that old rundown school there in Ravensworth .. both years of it .. things were different in his day , he was a working man at 8 yr old .
Aberdeen is 10 minutes north of Muswellbrook , nothing here tho , no business to speak of . I like it just for that , its quiet .

I do want to say a humble thanks to everyone , for all the good words tho . It means much .
