Well this is not really wilderness and survival....maybe survival. If I don't walk more I'll get too fat and die! I took this little two mile walk on the hiking trail here on my little island. The trail is fairly well maintained. It was a warm Spring day.

Why they thought a bridge was necessary for this little creek is beyond me, but here it is.

Part of the trial went along the turtle river and salt marsh.

I spied a little bench ahead to take a break at.
You think I brought enough knives for a walk in the park?

I thought this pink lichen was interesting. It grows mostly on the North side of these trees.

Back to the camp and done.

Great pics, Horn Dog. You captured a very Southeastern-looking part of the country there. I've been through that area, though not that precise location, and you caught quite a bit of detail worth looking at.

Note the palmetto-type foliage, the hanging moss, and that special shade of green that appears nowhere else. There's a nice blend of forest and swamp there, as well.

A BC-er like PitDog ought to see a huge difference in the biomes there. Very different plants from what he's used to.

Sheesh. I can feel the humidity there, and it's only March!

Nicely done!

That same little walk really is a survival experience in the Summer. I try to do it early. This is a small island called Blythe Island. It has a camp ground and swimming lake and such. There is a boat ramp. Just a little regional park on the coast of Georgia about 30 miles North of the Florida line.

Horn Dog those are great pic's. I think it's great you can get out like that this time of year, comfortably. Unfortunately it'll be a few more weeks before we even see green grass in the Dakota's. Your pic's give me hope that warm weather is soon here. It got up to 29 degrees today so hopefyully spring is just around the corner.

Thanks for showing us your neck of the woods. Great pics! I did not realize Georgia had that kind of marshy, palmetto-filled terrain. Then again, I guess Florida is your neighbor to the south. Enjoyed it.

great pics indeed... it's cool to see what everyone's diferent spots look like...

Beautiful area! Get those knives dirty already!
