I also would bring a second more fool proof fire making implement. And was wondering if you picked your knife out yet? Just curious what you decided to take. This is bladeforums after all. :) Sounds fun and hope you have a safe trip. Good on you for doing something like this. A lot of us just read about these things and never do it. I am 41 now and ToldD my best friend we have put off to many things we wa an do outside and this year we gotta get out there and just do it. We are only getting older. My dad and grandpa died last year and both had regrets about not doing more.
 
Thank you for your suggestions guys. I'm bringing a light pair of sandals (Shamma Barefoot 3mm sandals) and a light pair of hiking boots if I get into a ruff situation. I will try to do at least half of it barefoot. I'll think on the maps. I'm pretty familiar with the areas.
