Walking Dead Knives

I can't figure out where that knife even came from. Glen, Maggie and Daryl all had sheaths visible on their hips through that episode but Rick's seems to have come out of thin air.

There's a better view of the blade in question, last week's episode, Rick uses it when he eliminates one of the saviors in mid sleep...

Just watched that scene again and it looks like he might have opened a folder before going in.
This is what I was able to get from that sequence:

Thanks for the screen caps Moondrop! I'll check out the "southern grind bad monkey", thanks frontiersman! I was bummed that Daryl lost his TGLB in the last episode of the 4th season. I own a Team Gemini, that's the blade I'd want when the walkers come lol

Yup, frontiersman nailed it, southern grind bad monkey, I might need to pick one of those up, been meaning to get a larger folder. Thanks guys!

Only reason I caught it is I have one. It's also the blade Rick uses to punch a hole in his belt at the start of an earlier episode.

Do you like it? quality good? It looks like it would be a good larger EDC knife. The clip looks a little small though...

Yes I love it. I've carried it almost every day for a year now. It's the smoothest knife I've ever owned. Gets lightsaber sharp and has excellent fit and finish. I had the same concern about the clip but have no complaints. I will say I haven't hung the clip on anything and haven't had the knife fall out of my pants. I have a waved model.

Hey Frontiersman,

Did you happen to catch the kind of knife Rick was using in the episode "EAST"? I looked up the Southern Grind website but to me, none of those looked like the one Rick had in his hand as when he and Morgan were crossing the field to the barn. Maybe it was just the perspective of the camera angle that threw it off for me. I'll run it back and look at it again.

Thanx

SG Bad Monkey, same knife as mentioned before.

Perhaps it's time to expand this topic to cover Fear the Walking Dead as well?

Last night's episode, Los Muertos, featured some very good shots of a Buck 110 knife.

I didn't catch the 110, but Luciana did pin a walker to a wall with a 119. Next week Alicia will have a balisong that I couldn't identify from the preview that was shown.

It was given to her before the guy went through the bus.

I thought that was a 119, but I wasn't sure because one of her knives looked like it had a stacked leather washer handle.

It seemed too big to be a 119. I think it was a 110. No pouch? At that weight this is pretty significant... The bolsters seemed untarnished...

I did not find this sacrifice scene to be really believable: Nobody would want this kind of death, and people hang on to the bitter end, especially when things are bad...

Also this notion of complex, specific post-apocalypse cultures seems a bit rapid in development for the amount of time the series has gone on: Am I the only one feeling the writing is influenced by the time elapsed in the older series? The new series was supposed to show a more recent apocalypse, yet the situations seem a bit "worn-in"... Or maybe it is just the Mexico setting...

The older series had some logical problems (no-fence locations assumed to be "safe", twice), but here the kid striking it out on his own is a bit strange...
