Howdy all,
I've been watching this show since the beginning, and last night's episode brought up some serious questions for me: (spoiler alert for those who haven't seen it yet.... don't read any further!)

WHY did both Randall and Shane become zombies after they were killed in a conventional/non-zombie attack manner? Has this been addressed in any way on the show that I missed? And... another Hollywood gun thing that bothered me... did anyone catch the "cocking the hammer" sound that Shane made with his GLOCK? Has anyone here read the comics first? How closely is the series following the comic?

Well, they've been working up to the "everyone walks" thing for a couple of episodes now. Remember Rick and Shane couldn't find any bite marks on the two security guard zombies where they were going to drop the kid? It seems that now everyone who dies will turn into a walker. As far as Shane thumbing back the hammer on his Glock, Hollywood does that all the time, along with dry-firing them by pulling the trigger two or three times when they run out of ammo. Heck, they even used a 12 ga. pump racking in a round when Andrea drew her pistol in one episode. I've seen a couple of people say they were following the comics fairly well, but they are starting to diverge now. I've never seen them myself, so I really don't know.

I read somewhere that the producers decided to hire an all new writing staff for each episode of season 2. Not sure why but, it appears that there is a solid storyline so far.

The comic itself is one of the most well respected titles out there..Rick Grimes(from Cynthiana,Ky in the comics) was voted one of the most popular comic heros by IGN..Honestly I dont think they could have done any better than the comic storyline but I really like the show and have no complaints  They are keeping major plot characters and are set to have the "Governer" in season three..A major vllian in the series..

I wonder what it was that the Dr. from the CDC told him in the final episode of season 1.

The series does not follow the comics really up to any point.

They do not answer the issue in the comic as to why you die with an intact brain, you soon become a zombie. It does happen though. Remember Andrea's sister that she had to put down? Season 2 is in someways way ahead and completely behind the comics timeline.

The whole reanimating without bites or scratches comes from the comics. SPOILERS

Originally(from the comics), before going to Hershal's, Rick's son should have shot Shane and rick later discovers the whole re-animation without bites thing and goes back to Shane's grave to put him down again. The zombie virus is actually already in everyone waiting dormant. Which is no surprise with the lack of concern of getting blood all over themselves.

I think they're getting to that. I'm sure you're smart enough to hypothesize this yourself.

If I had a dollar every time I saw (or rather heard) someone cock a Glock or take it off safety in a movie or TV show, I wouldn't be working at a pizza chain. Not to mention all the other gun errors you see. I've given up hope that a show or movie won't make any stupid mistakes unless Michael Mann is involved.

She was bit in the raid in the woods IIRC.

Anyways that's interesting about the virus being dormant in everyone.I wonder if that's what the CDC guy told Rick?

I had this same discussion on the watch forum where i'm pretty involved (Hi I'm Ethan BTW), and these questions also came up.

I thought it was kinda sad that they killed off shane, and when he went all zombie, I was floored. I, too was also curious what the CDC doc said before the explosion.

Just a side note, WHERES MERRELL?!

John, I think you might be right. ;)

I think he might be with that group that Randall was in, or dead maybe?

I just watched last sundays episode.......wow.....what in the world?

oh well

just got to wait till the next episode.....impatiently

My wife and I have watched it from the beginning. I stopped watching it 2 weeks ago. I has turned into a zombie soap opera and I lost interest.

My wife still watches it. She misses All My Children, so now she watches All My Zombies.

love the show. watching shane get gutted was a shocker imo. i never read the comics nor intend to.

Merrell is the govna! anyone want to place bets? you knew he would come back at some point. he is a big actor and the man lost his hand. he is pissed and gonna get revenge once he finds everyone. in the last episode coming up here is my take of what is gonna happen. i am sure ill be way off but here it goes

noticed the hundreds of walkers headed to the farm. obviously its a turkey shoot. since the 30 man camp is only 5 miles away with some, i am sure closer, will hear the gun shots. they eventually find Rick's group and all hell breaks loose from there. :D.

I have been watching the show since day 1 also and have seen every episode....By far and away my favorite show ever. I have always been a huge zombie fan and this show is easily the best ever devoted to the subject.

On the show Talking Dead after The Walking Dead, the have brought this up many times and no one really has an answer for it. Even in the old zombie movies, you did not have to get bit to turn into a zombie and thats what I think they are headed towards. Is the virus that causes it air born...??????? The two cops Rick and Shane found did not have bites. They tried to buy into it that they had scratches on them.........What about Shane cutting his hand with a knife he killed a zombie with, I mean that alone could have caused the infection.

I have all the comics and have yet to read them all. The basis is the same and several of the characters are, but the show does not follow the comics to a tee from what I have read so far.

SOOOOO Looking forward to the Finale....Looks Like Its Going To Be Amazing...!!!

I have been wondering if they are going to bring back Merrell. That would be something if he is with Randall's Group....!!! I never thought of that.

He's probably the leader of Randall's group.

I was thinking the same thing.
It appears that Shane still have that interest of keeping the team (he lured Randall into confessing that he's somewhat ill-intent towards Rick's group) but lose to his Alpha Male when he tried to kill Rick.
Remember the scene in the barn when Randall was tied up and the blister marks around his wrist as he struggled?
You could see Shane took a good second there wondering what the heck was that...

Shane had basically gone ape shit after he let Otis became Zombies meal and after the apology from Lorrie he just lost it.
In fact he began to have strange aggression.

It actually got to me that during the opening of Season 2 when Tdogg cut his arm badly and Darryl saved him by covering them with corpses when he could have easily infected.
Now that raises another question: Why are some corpses remained dead and some turned into Zombies?

Wonder how Darryl react when he met his brother whom he's dealin with his guilt?
