anyone see the show on discovery last night? pretty immpressive, a british explorer walked the entire amazon, took like 2 years. his knives were a machete and a leatherman. the mental toughness was very impressing. watch it if you can.

Nope I missed it. I will look for it thought to be on again. Thanks for the heads up.

Watched football yesterday, didn't catch anything else. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

That was a cool show. The two guys were as tough as can be. They pushed thru some of the toughest parts of the Amazon. That is an adventure of a life time. He used the Machete for almost everything. After all this time i guess he developed the technic where he didnt realy needed anything else. Its amazing how they pushed them selves. It was a great show wish it was longer and showed more of the adventure two hours is not enought.

Yeah, I noticed last night and recorded it. Wow, what an expedition...that Brit gets two thumbs up for perseverance! I really hope he writes a book as it will have a lot more detail and information. Some of their situations were incredible and very close to life-threatening survival; his second guide that made the majority of the trek was a real trooper as well. If you get a chance to watch it, you'll be well entertained...

They should have made it into a series, instead of just a single 2 hours show.

yeah a book would be cool! I am gonna re watch it tonight I think. I recorded it. they only show the leatherman 2 times for split second. but yeah machete mostly

that was a really cool show, and the level of mental toughness was really quite impressive.

Worth watching for sure. My sons and I watched it today and really were impressed.
Those are a couple of hardcore dudes.

Is this the guy on the show Ed Stafford? If so a google search brought up a lot of sites about his experience.

I found the show very interesting. I can't imagine doing something like that for "fun". They packed a lot of gear. One thing I noticed was after he broke his front tooth, it wasn't too long before it was fixed. They seemed to have a mid sized camp knife along with machetes.

amazing journey. i watched it 3 times already. those are 2 tough guys...id like to know what footwear he used and what attention he gave his feet. a book would be great or a series....the 2hrs just wasnt enough.

I missed it. Sounds very interesting. Anyone who finds out when it is on again, kindly post.

IIRC, an Alpacka Raft helped for the wet bits.

I got to watch about half of it. Cool show, I'd like to see the whole thing from the start. When the main guy got stung in the mouth/throat by the wasp I thought he would be down for the count.

The guy took over 2 years out in the bush. The perserverance was pretty amazing but I definitely didn't come away with much admiration for the guy. He seems like someone who was consumed with his quest, and didn't really have any care for anything or anyone else. I don't think it would have bothered him at all had his guide died there in the jungle (which he almost did due to stafford slave-driving).

To do something like this to travel so far and long. You got must be one tought cookie. Yes you do need to push your self and everyone else or you would be stoping everytime someone has a headache. If you notice or read about any of the explorers they all have the same drive. Thats what keeped him and his guide moving. Thats the guys of a guy you want on your team.
