Hello all,
At this past NY custom knife show, I picked up a Wally Hayes Tac-1. Here is Wallys site: www.hayesknives.com
And here is the knife:
The blade etching is homemade and was done by myself. If you are interested in learning how to do it, go to this thread:

The knife is forged from O-1 tool steel and has black G-10 scales. Overall length is about 9 7/8 with a blade length of 5 ¼. The blade is ¼ thick. It weighs in at 12 oz.

This is now, by far the sturdiest knife I have ever held. It really is like a tank. The balance point is right on the first groove in the handle scale, putting most of the weight in the hand. This handle heavy balance makes the knife feel lighter than it is. I have heard stories about the handles of the TAC-1 being uncomfortable without gloves, I seriously have to disagree. The handle is actually very comfortable and fits my small hand well. The sheath is great also. Very clean and nicely executed. I did have to modify the sheath a little, though. The sheath actually came up on the handle another two grooves, making it a little difficult to get a secure grip on the handle when drawing the blade. I cut it down with a pair of tin snips and sanded it smooth. It is now PERFECT. The sheath came fitted with a big j clip which I replaced with a clip that I already had. It is just a matter of preference, I really love this clip. The TAC-1 has been my EDC since the show and it is honestly one of, if not the most comfortable carry I have.
Well, there ya have it. If you have any questions, I would love to hear them.
