[/IMG]Would someone please give me some feedback on this piece, GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERENT?

This is one of my favorite styles. With a Black Walnut handle and Satin finished blade. As usual I have added extra pins for that "early" look. The blade is made from a "sawmill gang" saw blade of German 2003 steel which is 80% carbon and 7% chromium with a few other ingredients. The blade is convex ground and hand finished to 400 grit. The color variance on the blade tip in the second photo is a trick of the light (shadow). I am a better maker than photographer.

Over all is 10 3/8"
5 3/4" blade
1 1/2" widest point and 5/32' thick
Handle is waxed Black Walnut

Price is $75.00 US shipped in the US or Can.

Overall, the knife looks pretty good to me. However, I don't like where the grind starts for the edge. For me , I would rather it start all the way back. As is, it just doesn't look just right for me. I appreciate the fact you made it, the next Knife I make will be my first.

looks like a very useful camp knife. good design, nice execution. very good price. i see a lot of the newer custom makers here need to build somewhat of a history/fan base for others to feel comfortable with. you keep selling good knives at a great price like this one and your following will grow

Thank you guys for the feedback, I was beginning to get a complex. Question: Do my photos scroll side to side or up and down on your screens. I may be having a problem with that. Again thanks

they scroll vertically for me, good to go. a couple other things...you might want to get a logo and start stamping your blades with a maker's mark/date/steel/whatever you like, kinda adds to the uniqueness. also do something above and beyond like lanyard holes with cool lanyards attached, sheaths with firesteels and pouches with sharpening stones, maybe a large chopper with small buchcraft attached to sheath, etc...just some ideas of stuff i always dig :)

Thanks pittsteele , About the makers mark. I use an engraver to place a cursive LW on the top left side of the blade at the front of the handle. If the light isn't right it want show in a photo. I do this primarilary due to the period nature of my work. I have done all the other things that you have suggested and will surely be submitting some of that work. These are all good suggestions and I genuinely appreciate them. Larry Walker
