A long-time client ordered a Walrus Dogbone, and requested this Explosion-wrapped Twist Damascus pattern.

At Blade, I was asked to give a seminar at the ABS Expo in San Antonio the 27th of this month.

I'll be taking this 10 1/2 inch, 1084 & 15n20 Damascus dagger, with Walrus ivory Dogbone handle, Damascus and Sterling silver fittings to the show for delivery.

I'll also be taking most of the drawings, templates, and special tools used to make the knife.

It's a take-down, and we'll be using it to talk about how to "Do the Dogbone."

Paul Long made the fantastic sheath, with the "Hornback" Alligator insert.

Buddy Thomason took the dramatic photo.

See you in San Antonio,

John

Here's the final version of the solo shot,

Buddy's also created this montage,

Here's a closer look at the handle.

What an AWESOME knife! And I am one who usually does not even like daggers, but that knife is just so outstanding . . . Congrats to you and your client. And have a great show.

Outstanding....and then some, John...! Love the damascus...

Hope you don't deliver it until Saturday. I won't be able to make it on Friday, and I would love to see it in person.

What Lorien said John. Wow what a knife, you are the man. Wish I could be there to see it. One VERY happy customer I am sure and of course the requisite Paul Long goodness. Very cool.

Just fantastic!! Wow John I'm on your list for may 2013... A long time to think of what to have you create, no matter what I choose it will def be a takedown.

Your WIP and takedown models pics are awe inspiring!

Paul you make it look easy on those sheaths ;)

It's amazing John. Wow. Is that a single piece wrapped around the core???? That blade would be equally at home on a Viking weapon.

Just wonderful. I counted 50 different pieces to this knife. I may be off by a couple, but that's irrelevant. WOW!

John: There is no one better.

Paul: A perfectly suited sheath, richly appointed.

Buddy: You're MY hero. I like--no LOVE--the 'twist' ;) (He knows what I speak)

Awesome work, John! That damascus makes this dagger shine. Your work is inspiring.

That sheath maker you have found down in South Texas is getting pretty good. Tell him I love his addition to this marvelous package. :)

Buddy's image rocks.

You 'do the dogbone' well!

That is just fantastic - don't know how it could be any nicer. The damascus pattern couldn't be more perfectly suited to the piece. Props to Paul and Buddy for their work as well. Wish I could have one of those beautiful gator-insert sheaths, but customs frowns on suchlike.

Wow it looks like I will have to find someone to sit my table for a bit while I watch and learn thank you for doing it .

I look forward to seeing this in TX John. Thanks for the break down photo. It will help me prepare for your seminar so I can ask some really hard questions :).

Very beautiful piece and I like that the take down tool is also a takedown.

see ya in TX
