Walrus handle cracked, is it going to be a problem?

It's called 'stress relief'........you're in the wrong game if you worry about resale, must be a 'purveyor' looking for a buck......good luck with all of that. ;)
Well, I didn't intend to make a profit out of it but sometimes I need to resell old stuff to fund other knives that I want more and a 50% loss won't be fun either.

Well, whoever bought it must have reconsidered. It is now back up for sale again, same place, same price.....................

I would contact Jerry to see if a rehandle is considerable.

It's like a car with a dent in it. You will always see it.

Many a cracked/checked handle has come under the hammer on the anvil…he could re-handle it in time.

What's wrong with selling a knife from your collection? Or heaven-forbid even making a profit? I consider myself a collector, not a purveyor, however have owned and sold MANY knives over the years, and yes made a profit on most.

Personally, I've never wanted to have 300-400 knives in my collection at a time and have to take care of all of them. I enjoy purchasing knives, and even more so working with knifemakers to have knives created. And I enjoy selling them as well
when the time comes.

I have some knives that I've owned for many years and will most likely never sell them, but others that I enjoy several years and then pass on for other collectors to enjoy. Everyone wins in this case as I get space for fresh blood in my collection, so to speak, and another collector gets a wonderful new knife that they are thrilled with. One thing I've learned from being a collector of quite a few things over the years is that there's no right way to collect, only the way that the individual collector derives the most enjoyment!

Exactly, Kevin….I have my views and you’ve stated yours. I don’t sell my knives and don’t worry about even breaking even. Like you stated, I do it for enjoyment and I get most from the Makers, I don’t have 300-400, I’ve got 1300-1400 and that’s how I roll.

I have my opinions on collecting and folks that collect….:)

That's amazing! I can't even imagine maintaining 1300-1400 knives or even keeping track of them for that matter.
How do you do it? Do you display any, have them cataloged in some way to keep track of what you have?

Sure…to all of the above…50 years worth.

If I had all of the knives I’ve ordered and been promised I’d probably have twice as many….part of the game.

When it happens these days it’s kind of a relief….
