OK. I am a truly a gear junkie (did I mention that I drink). One night I read a review of this knife/shovel/pick in one of the knife magazines and they actually said pretty good stuff about it. So I convinced myself that I would probably need one during a zombie attack or something and bought one...

The tool is marketed under the Walther name. It is a knife that screws into a handle or a shovel/pick can be screwed into the handle as well. It comes in a very nice belt pouch (double-stitched, nice material) and a tube of pretty crappy survival supplies (which I loaded with real stuff). I haven't used the shovel yet, but my initial impression is that it might not be the most craptastic thing I ever bought. The whole package is very light and could be worn comfortably on a belt. I am not sure exactly where it fits into my kits (assuming that the shovel is any good), I carry a CS shovel in my Jeep and U-Dig-its in my packs. So we'll see... If anybody is interested, I'll beat it and report back...

Sounds interesting. Where does is the knife blade stored when not in use? The tube? I'd be interested to hear how it works, and how much it set you back if you don't mind.

Soccer god,

The knife blade is stored in the handle. You have to unscrew it, pull it out and screw it it in the other way to use it. Handle grip is comfy. I paid about $30 bucks for it.
