Wow, I'm not worthy! Thanks for sharing those pictures. I guess global warming was good for the Kalahari desert. Maybe my wife will go for his and hers Rovers for Christmas....

Excellent photos thanks for sharing.

How do you like that Land Rover G4 challenge tent ?

Hmm... I feel a visit to South Africa coming on... Is September/October a good time to plan a trip? I've got a few friends that live there, but I'd have to say hello to good old Aubrey and his Land Rover as well... :D

Seriously, I've been semi-planning a trip to Argentina in the fall, but after seeing all of the pics you've been posting, I might be changing my destination to SA... let me know what you think...

Oh man . I love the desert and it looks good out there. keep posting.. I so need to win the lotto that its not even a joke no more.

It has been to Mozambique where it rained for days ...never got wet. Stood up well to stronmg winds but it's not 4 season as per USA spec. More like 3 season. You guessed...no snow so cannot comment on how that works. out. Bought on Ebay in UK for about USD250.

1 Sept is spring ....will start raining soon after. But, most all rain falls overnight ....between 340 and 350 days of sunshine a year. Temp is very nice and mild. Oct is early summer ....... good enough for beach holidays

But the killer ....... after winter, bush is down (no rain in winter and grazer took over), surface water is scarce so watering holes a must visit for animals during the day ....... absolute best game watching you can plan. Days not too hot ...mid 70's and nights not too cold (desert is colder) at 50's. And most young animals are born in Sept/Oct time frame.

Well, I would be offended if you flew past without dropping in ....can always spare a bed or two on short call. Drop me a note as I would be more than happy to share the little I know.

Regards

Aubrey

Whoa. Great pics, I love the color of that sand.

Thanx. The Kalahari comes in two versions ....the white and the red. This is the red Kalahari as the sand is full of iron oxide making it red. The white Kalahari is pure white sand and was an inland sea many millions of years ago.

Awesome... still lots of time between now and then. Lots can happen with funding, etc... I'll keep you in the loop! As of right now, I think my destination has officially changed!

Avoid 24 Sept to 5 Oct if possible in SA. Short school holiday ... not 100% bad but everywhere just that tad busier. Outside that period prices half and you can rock up sans reservation ...no problem !

Great pics Aubrey! Kalahari - damn, lucky guy.

Drop us a line some time, like to hear more about it!
