Well, it sure took its sweet time getting here, but spring finally made it up this way it seems. All of the green and various colors are a welcome change after the four months in an arctic zone :)

I've been taking my woodsman along during my think-break-wanders while out working, and checking out all of the flora. I thought the May Apples were going to be June Apples this year the way things were going...

Michigan has roughly 25% of the world's fresh water, so lots of swamps and marshes...

Thus LOTS of these girls as well...

Looks like a fox passed through this area not too long ago

Nice to see all the color

As for those Morels, yeah several found their way to my cutting board. Where they were dipped in a wet mix of fresh eggs and salt, coated in flour, and fried for a nice snack :) Man I love how this knife transitions from woods to kitchen! :D

#1 - This is why I purchased a woodsman in the first place; if I recall correctly, I remember recommending that every 10th woodsman Andy sells, Mistwalker should get one free. This suggestion still stands ;)

#2 - Mist's post goes to show the versatility of this profile and why it happens to be my overall favorite design from FBF. If you need only one knife to do everything (some might argue the bushfinger), but I'd say its the woodsman.

Great post Mist & well done!

Thanks Will! While I must admit that (largely due to the overwhelming number of sheeple, and the laws they cause to be) I sometimes wish I had something like a Woodsman Jr, or a Shank Sr...something between the two...same profile as either, and in 5/32 tapered like this Woodsman, and yes obviously guardless :D I have to agree with you. It just handles everything I need a knife to do from cutting and whittle, to boring and digging out splinters, to slicing and dicing at the cutting board. It's perfect for me and my style of knife use in the field and in the kitchen. My two favorite places :)

Mist, I'm glad to see Spring has finally arrived for you. What a long winter.

I know I say it every time you post one of these threads, but I'll say it again. Thanks for sharing this with us. Great shots of nature and the Woodsman. I love seeing foliage that's totally foreign to me. I'm wishing the mosquitos were foreign too, but we still get to deal with those. Great transition from woods to kitchen.

I agree with Will, you should get commission on Woodsman sales as mine is due to your influence as well.

I've never had a morel. One of these days...

Great photos as always Mist! It looks very different than spring here in coastal California, which started in February. I love the landscape and plant photos as well. It looks like a great place to wander and explore. Nice find on the morels!

The shrooms look delicious! Great pictures as always, thanks for sharing. Did you find any ticks on you afterward? They are out in full force up here.

Me too man, me too! Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the photos! Eh, Andy is the one who did the awesome Fiddleback rendition of a proven, and near timeless design. All I've done was to use it, and take pics of it ;) The Morels were awesome dipped in some blue cheese dressing :D

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed them! Yeah, Feb? LMAO here we were still having frosts a week and a half ago :) I am enjoying the wandering new woods very much!

Fox my ass...LOL! GREAT pictures Mistwalker!

LOL, well it does look a might big for fox...but location and diet point in that direction... Thanks man, glad you liked them!

Thanks man, and they were very tasty! No, have only seen a couple so far this year.

Awesome photos Mist. Love the red vs green in the first. You definitely play hard with that Woodsman..so awesome.

Thanks for the pics Misty.

We have lots more spruce and pine here, but the terrain looks a lot like the woods on the island my parents summer house is on.

Awesome photos Mist it's good to know that those thistles are not fussy where they live , we've got plenty over here too. Love the shots of the Morels before and after , they look delicious.
The Woodsman would have to be one of my favorite blades and that patina looks fantastic.
All the best to you mate I really look forward to your posts over here in Oz.

Mick

I told you that spring would come Mist. Those Morels are a tangible edible sign that spring is really here. ENJOY!

Thanks man, yeah...lol, the red is almost always easy to spot from a distance :)

I have thought about doing a camo job on this one like my last one, but I'm so used to being able to spot the red from a distance, I'm afraid I'd lose it the first trip to the woods :D

I've had this Woodsman for a year now, and yes it has definitely earned its keep :)

Glad you liked them man. Yeah, this place reminds me a lot of south Georgia and southern Florida with all the swamps...but minus all the sub tropical plants and big reptiles. Sometimes when I am knee deep in a swamp I catch myself falling into old habits and looking for gators in the area lol

Wow, beautiful!

Yeah, some pretty country up this way.

Thanks Mick, I'm really glad you enjoy the posts!

Yeah, they don't seen to be too picky, and are pretty hardy plants...which is cool because they make great tinder materials :) The Morels were really good, next time I'll add some light seasonings to the mix. Glad I got mine free, people have been selling them for $60 a pound. Yeah, of all my knives, my Woodsman is the most indispensable :)

Yeah, there for a little while I was beginning to wonder :) This was my first time gathering and cooking them, I will definitely look for more next year :)

Hey Mist:

So so glad that spring has finally come to the north land. Awesome pics.....its just like being there with you.

Ran into an old friend of yours.....said to tell you hey ;)

Thanks for sharing bud. Like you, I embrace each season as it arrives. This spring was certainly a welcome one.

Great photos. I miss my Ranger!

Wish I had someone close by knowledgeable enough to go foraging for shrooms/morels, I'm always afraid I'll either die or get chased out of the woods by unicorns. Is the hollow cap/stem the main way to identify the edible from the dangerous ones?
