wanenmacher gun&Knife show bounty

i attended the wanenmacher gun and knife show today here in tulsa. i got to see alot of great knives, and some other neat stuff. i got to handle a couple of SDS knives and was very impress, although i couldnt buy one today. it tooks me about 6 hours to get through the whole thing, and i only look at knives :eek:

anyway, on to what i did buy.

schrade old timer 30T lockback ($10):

and this next one was my best deal/find. knivsmed stromeng n-9730 karasjok($35). i dont know much about it, other than it is crazy sharp and tough, so any other info would be nice. i used it outside today, and was very impressed, especially with the sheath. anyway, here are some pics:

Man, I envy you. Those are great buys and two of my favorite knives.

The Stromeng is Swedish, a terrific blade (sometimes they call them Samikniven -- knives used by the Sami people). It's the equivalent of a Finish leuku.

In terms of length/weight/cutting ability, it's hard to beat. You can baton it, no problem, and it will take surprisingly large trees.

When clearing branches, kind of flick your wrist with it.

It also makes a *superb* drawknife (wear a leather glove on the far end to be safe) for making bows in the wild.

All around a great knife and a really great buy. It's usually hard to find them for less than $60 or so.
 
the guy that sold me the leuku didnt really know anthing about knives, so he had no idea what to price it. he said i could have it for 35, and i took him up on that.
