I once saw it on some documentary that Nepal Khukuri makers would search through junkyard metal for blade material. Porbably I am heavily polluted (spoiled?) by modern civilization and too blind to see any essence out of this kind of practice for is beyond my imagination how you can have quality control or performance predictability under such circumstances.
German, Brits, or Japanese cars scrap metal should be OK, but Nepal's neighbors India and China also make cars. I believe India cars are the cheapest around the world. Can you expect good quality scrap metal from that kind of cars?
