Come on now, don't laugh too much guys!!! :D
I know it aint purty but it runs and the belt tracks good with no load!! I haven't tried grinding on it yet. I don't have any steel handy and I need to order some belts. The belt that's on the grinder is one my neighbor gave me so I could get all the wheels lined up. It vibrates a little but I think that's because of the way I've got the motor mounted. I'll keep a look out on Ebay and here for a good deal on a d.c. rig!!
Thanks for checking out my thread guys!!!

Looks good to me but I bet it is loud! Eh? Stuff the tubes with insulation and close with foam, put a rubber strip under the whole mess and your brain will thank you.

It shows ingenuity, that's never ugly.

It also shows I am not the only one who is very happy to be able to reverse the piece after messing up the first set of holes. ;)

Are you going to mount a rest on it? I am building a little 1x42, more for small detail work, grinding hss tool bits, deburing ect ect. I robbed the step pulleys off a small import drill with a burned out motor. I bet if you sandblast and paint it, would look real nice.

Unless the motor is sealed, or at least sheilded, it will
suck up alot of whatever you're grinding.

NOT ugly at all! Shows thinking, craftsmanship, hard work and ingenuity:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing,

Ken

It looks fine to me. Elegantly simple even. It would only look ugly to someone who is fairly ignorant of such things, the welds look solid, the design is sturdy, the only thing I could suggest to improve it (only cosmetically) would be to disassemble it and sandblast and re-paint the frame.

Edit: I bet a Fenner Power Link drive belt would kill that vibration. I had the same trouble with my Coote when I set it up, it was the V-belt that caused it. The Fenner belts are worth every penny and then some.

And all along I thought it was going to be a self portrait! LOL!

We've been here a while, Michael!
