I will check the hp on a unit at work. It may be what your looking for.
or it may be a little more hp whats the max you can go?? Will take some
pictures on monday, I'll let you know what I find.

The one I found was 5hp but was brand new I might bring it home
keep it on a shelf for a just incase thing.. Glad your up and running

You guys don't buy "compressor duty" motors do you? I imagine I need a continuous duty?
The motors on ebay tend to be compressor duty.

Hi Richard, Continuous duty is a must on a grinder. Fully inclosed is also needed in a knife shop. The Baldor, farm duty motor, is a good example of a motor for the knife shop. They are reasonabley priced and well built. Fred
 
The 2hp motor on my 24 inch Davis Wells wood cutting bandsaw finally went out.I would like to replace it with a 2 or 3 HP. I use this to cut up tusks and whale bone.If any one has one I will buy it or trade handle material.My email is akivoy@gci.net

As long as everyone is looking........I need a 2hp DC motor with a 180vdc armature, preferably TEFC and a 56C face.
