(want a good knife) Help me decide, please...

To tell the truth I'm hopelessly confused with the Busse, I have never seen one in real life, and i can't find a catalogue or anything like that where I can just point Pick and buy, that combined with the fact that for now I got about 2 free hours a day makes this research endevaur even harder. That badger looked nice, with that kind of warranty its cheaper then a strider and looks more comfortable.

For now it down to Busse and Strider (their sniper model).
I'd love to have custom, but I have no idea where to even start my search (all things concidered I want a simple knife, about 4 and a half inches double edged, slightly more then an inch wide, thik, slightly recurved front, maybe a small hand guard, maybe serrated on one side, a very simple handle without complex finger grooves)

Post a question in the custom makers forum, stating what you want done, and there will be plenty of responses.
I did just that and Jim Moyer responded and made me some fantastic blades.

As for the Busse models, go to http://bussecollector.com/
This is a repository of all of the old Busse models.
If you go to the swamp rat website you will find a similar list, but I don't know where it is off the top of my head.

The best way for any information on here, be it for a production knife or custom, is to go to the relevant forum and ask. There are plenty of people on the Busse/swamp rat forums that know a lot more than I do . . . but Jerry Busse and family make rock solid blades and back them up with the best warranty I've ever seen.
People have intentionally destroyed their knives, admitted to intentionally destroying them on the forum, and the Busse clan has still replaced their knives; no questions asked.

thank you very much that was lot of help, I really apreciate it, and can't thank you enough.

Although now I'm back to square one, choosing which Busse to get. (Although I think still like the badger the most) here we go again.

I'll ask about custom tommorow always wanted a good knife that would fit my needs, and never found one for sale.

If you're looking for a tank kill'n folder, then save yourself some money and buy a Spyderco Manix!

You will not regret it.

The great thing with Busse knives is that you can always resell them; usually for what you bought them for (if not a little more . . . depending on the market).

If you buy a knife, and don't like its shape or feel, trade it!

I'd also seriously look at Swamp Rat knives.
Almost as good as Busse, only more affordable.

You can buy knives from the company store:

And this is the company's website:

Ok still am confused about Busse, but now much less so then before. I went into Busse forums and asked, just hope I don't get fried for asking a buch of stupid questions.

I looked at swamp Rat but most of the knifes I saw had a 6" blade. And thats kinda too long for what I want. btw does Busse warranty goes as far for the swamp rat? Plus if i decided to buy something good, and finaly pay the buck, might as well get something a bit better even if not by much. I mean, I already set aside some money for it, so its ither a better knife or having to cook for myself for about 4 days.

This might also be a good place to ask this, just so I don't go around starting a bunch of new topics.

I always knew spyderco was quality, (never had one) but why do they have a cult following, I mean for most the sheeple of which I'm a prime example as it seems, spyderco are just ordinary folders. Why are they better then lets say my kershaw splinter?

Busse and Swamp Rat have the exact same warranty.

If you want a 4" blade, look for a Swamp Rat Howling rat.
The 1st and 2nd generations had resiprine(sp)-C handles, and the later ones, known as the HRLM, have micarta handles

If the warranty is your primary concern, the Busse family of knives can't be touched. You could strip the coating, thin the edge, destroy 3 tons of cinder block or the knife, whichever comes first, and still not void the warranty. If its not your main consideration, any of the companies you listed turn out products that you will be most pleased with. In that case, my advice would be to choose the (available) knife that you most like the looks of.

Big help, I know!

If you're willing to look at a fixed blade the Busse Game Warden or Active Duty might do the trick. The Kershaw ZT 301 or 302 folders are worth having a look at as well. They're a Ken Onion/Mick Strider collaboration with speedsafe.

Yes, i'm now looking for a Busse, but its noit that simple geting one. I've been whining over on the Bussy forums for a while, and I bearly figured out how to purchase a new one (unfortuantly i can't do that right now for reasons only known to somebody called idahoskunk, and the Busse's). I want a BA 3 but those are rear. Anyhow I figured the striders i like are kinda too big, although easier to conceal (I'm talking about the ones I like) all of them have at leas 5+ inch blade. So i'd rather get a BATAK, but i'm still trying to deside.

Skunk said he has some BATACs coming in next week and there are some 2007 SE Meaners up for grabs in the Exchange right now. The Meaner would be a great choice for an EDC.

You're looking for a BA 3 already, and you're new to Busses?!

You swing for the fence!!!
Good for you.

If I were you, I'd search old for sale threads (remember, the Busse for sale forum has only been around for a few months, so search the general sale forum), see who purchased them recently, and contact them.
