I'm pretty new to the knife game. I've had a Spyderco & Benchmade for 5+ years, but I wasn't "into" knives and didn't know much about other brands beyond what my local gun store sold all the tacti-cool guys.

I only "discovered" the Microtech brand a few months when I started researching OTF knives. I wound up buying a Scarab. ...but I really wish I could buy a Socom Elite and/or a Socom Delta. Those are fantastic looking folders. I'd love to own one, but they haven't been made in years apparently.

I've come to realize that folks here seem to have a love/hate relationship with Microtech. Seems there's lots of love for their cool designs and stout build quality, but hate their service & price tag.

I've also come to learn that once they do a run of knives you're not likely to see that particular style again. That kind of sucks for me - I missed the Socom boat by a few years.

We all want one dont feel bad, Now if they make an auto Socom Delta and keep the framelock that would be epic. **HINT HINT MICROTECH**

Go for it, my MT Scarab (this is the second one) has never failed me, fit and finish are great, great reliable knife

I was able to score a nice used Socom Delta. I got very lucky.

As soon as the smoking hole in my wallet heals, I'll start looking for a good example of the Socom Elite.

I've been on the hint for one for a while, a drop point like you have pictured, very hard to find. There are a lot that have tanto blades or serrated.

Very true - that's all I seem to have found. I guess everyone that has a drop point is keeping theirs!

The SOCOM Elite is about my favorite EDC folding knife, followed closely by the SOCOM Delta. I only have one Elite and it's still in mind condition, so I never carry it. I was lucky a few years back and scored two Delta models. The first is aluminum with a coated D2 tanto. MT makes incredible tanto points. The second is the satin drop point on G10. The bearings these knives run on are incredible. Perfect alignment, good blade length (4"), and a real joy to carry! I highly recommend picking one up when the funds allow.

williamisthe1 - it looks like you pulled the glass breaker off your Socom Elite? ...or did they not have glass breakers back in 2000.
Considering its manufacturing year - that one looks to be in great shape.

I have a FleaBay search alerting to me new Socom's. One popped up over the weekend. It was a combo edge with carbon fiber inlaid handle. It got snapped up at $329 before I could even respond to the email.

I own the Delta and several Elites, I think the Elite is a better knife. They pop up here on the Exchange once in a while too.

It didn't come with a glass breaker
