What is the difference between Mozilla 1.7 and Firefox 1.0.3?

Several people have recomended a "Free" Firefox, but I just see Mozilla and Firefox for about $40.

I did DL Mozilla and like it a lot better than IE and Outlook 2003.

firefox IS free, if anyone is charging for it it is in violation of the open source license.

Firefox is the fixed blade version of mozilla. Mozzila is the bloated 150 bladed
swiss army knife version of firefox. Firefox is a browser without all the bells and whistles and usually unnecessary 'features' bolted on. mozzila has everything you could every ask for already bolted on, even if you don't want it. firefox can be 'customised' by addition of features if desired tho.

Another happy Firefoxer here. I use it on both my Mac and my PCs. It rocks and is quite stable. I love tabbed browsing, you probably will too.

There's even an extension that will let you know if Abe Vigoda (Fish from Barney Miller) is still alive (he is).

Anyone have any idea how to create multiple but seperate identities in Tbird? I have multiple email accounts between work and personal and was always able to keep them seperate in Outlook Express but haven't figured it out in Tbird yet.

Any ideas?

I like Safari - but it runs on Macs.

Firefox has performed well for me when I've used it, as did Mozilla.

Make sure you learn how to use tabs. It's a feature not in IE, and lets you open up multiple sites without having to start new browser windows. Much easier if you like to go back and forth among several pages.

OK, I got FireFox and it is SWEET! Now what for an email program?

Down with Outlook 2003!

PINE!

Ok, ok, so I'm living in the stone age. Attachments usually get sent to gmail for opening/viewing, unless I'm logged in directly on the UNIX network, where it's pretty easy to save and view them.

I'm not so fond of the Gmail organization. I like to have a pretty empty inbox, and everything else hidden away. Maybe I need to learn the archive feature.

Eudora served me pretty well as an alternative to Outlook/Entorage. Very similar interface, but a much smoother program.

While I was using Firefox, I never learned how to use tabs. Why is it easier than opening new browser pages? I do that in IE all the time, no problem.

Crazybrowser and Slimbrowser both have improvements over IE. I like Slimbrowser for the tabs, and popup and ad elimination. It uses a lot of IE technology, so if you realy hate IE, it won't be what you want.

I like Agent for email & newsgroups

Very nice customizable filtering
but more than basic filtering
requires a little study of the integral filter language

one benefit/deficit
depends on your preference
is that it cannot open html
(except by linking to another program)
that prevents it from potentially activating any bad actors.
