Well I think its time for a new edc. Right now, all I have is a bm 806, 610, and chinook. I don't like the D2 on the 806, the 610 is too much of a brick, and the chinook is probably my favorite but want a blade shape for utlity cutting. So far I've been looking at the Military. I like spyderco's g-10 if its like the chinook. Feels like a good grip. I like the over all shape of the blade, and always found it useful. I was wondering about the lock though. Is it a liner lock? How does it hold up? I've always been weary of liner locks having a few close on me with normal use. Anyone use it hard?

I just mailed off a Military from a pass-around. I have had a Military in the past, great knife. The liner-lock on the Military is done right. If you want the best Military out right now, find the peely-ply carbon fiber Military, with S30V or BG-42. The grip of the CF is alot better the the Chinook.
Send me an email about the 806.

Blades

You might should look and the manix to me it feels similar to the chinook but a better utility blade shape.

The manix and mini-manix are comparably sized with the Chinook and has a more utilitarian blade for every day use. If you want to go a little smaller, check out the Caly 3. It's an outstanding knife with G-10, double steel liners, lock back, and VG-10 steel.

Never had a chance to handle a manix as there is only knife store around here and they don't carry it. Certainly looks like a good knife.

I would say you should look into the Manix. The Mini-Manix will be bit more compact than the Chinook yet still has a 3" blade. The Military is a great knife as well. I would say look at the Mini first and the CF Military if your budget allows. It is about 50% more than the the Mini but it is worth it.
