Want a new folder

I loved the ZT 301 I used to have. May just have to grab another but then I am curious about the tri-ad lock.

I looked at every last folder produced and settled on the Lone Wolf Blackfoot. Can't wait to get it.

Another vote for the Manix 2. Beefy folder, opens and closes very well and withstood all the farm abuse I could give it. Very nice knife and made in the USA.

I love my Benchmade 710. Such a classic design. Has the usual like G10 handles, AXIS lock, and D2 steel. Pretty nice blade length at 3.9". I just love the simple and sophisticated look of it. Also, the price isn't totally out there. I got mine for $108. I guess a downside you might consider is the recurve, but I believe it is helpful and makes the blade look even better. Something to consider...

+1 for the RAT1
Kershaw Rake is good, too.
for pure silly big you could always go with a CS Pocket Bushman...

if you decide you want another there is a member here who sells ZT and kershaw factory seconds at very good prices and he has an awesome reputation in the forums. pm me if interested.

Spydrco stretch is pretty good, not the biggest ...
But the BM 710, that has a nice drop...'bout a 4 inch D2 blade, nice lock.

If you haven't looked at the Rat-1 folder you need to put it on your list. It meets all your requirements and is one heck of a knife for the money.
Yep!
My absolute favorite beater of all time and also for a lot of my friends who were out in the sand box. You can buy 2 for the price of one that is 3 times as much, and not as well made.

Not sure about the large but the Mini American Lawman by Cold Steel feels pretty good. It came in this afternoon and I am impressed with the tri-ad lock. I know its AUS8 Steel, but heck what's wrong with that?

Triad locks are something else for sure!
I'm still testing the Recon 1 tanto I modified and so far I'm very impressed with the lock mechanism. It's simple and so far very reliable. I know its not quite a lawman, but very close to the same blade shape.

I held my friends HEST folder today. I loved it, mine will be here soon enough.

Great feel, incredibly stout. No questions asked lifetime warranty....on a folder? Hell yea!

I have a Lone Wolf Blackfoot and I love it. I'm not sure if they are still making them since they were bought but I definitely love mine.

The BM Dejavoo is an amazing knife, but not hard use.

Less expensive hard use: Kershaw Shallot, Cold Steel... several different models. Griptillians are rugged as well, but generally aren't perceived as a hard use knife. I think their blade shape and lock mechanism make them a lot more robust than people give them credit for though.

More expensive hard use: ZT 551, Hogue EX-01

I would give the Shallot the bang for the buck award, but the ZT and Hogue are definitely a few steps up in materials.

I got to play with a Strider SMF yesterday. DAMN it awesome

I've been thinking of grabbing one of those myself. My Delica and Buck Vantage are nice, but I want something a little bigger. The RAT Model 1 is nice but I can't close it one handed, so it's been sitting on my shelf. The HEST Folder has been delayed again for god knows how long and I'm itching to upgrade my EDC folder, at least until the HEST or ESEE 3F comes along.

Is the Mule line made in Taiwan?

I'm almost positive it is, but give me two seconds (which you can't perceive in this written communication.) Yes it is. You can open and close the MULE one handed, its a bear if you want to flick it open though (can be done, you just have to want it. I've accidentally thrown it once or twice doing this:eek:)

God Bless,
Adam

PS: I will say, while I absolutely loved my time with the MULE, I got me a Delica 4, and it is my favorite folder, its so perfect for EDC. But it sure ain't what you're describing.

I just received my folder - wow. Before now I have only had folders in the <$50 range, what a difference. God dammit if I didn't just order the Longhorn from NGK. Figured the bigger brother in G10 would be better for hiking, hunting and the like. This one will make a great EDC.

I've just ordered a Benchmade 755 MPR to tide me over till the Hest arrives. Shorter blade but twice as wide. I'm looking forward to

Wait for the ESEE folder and be like the Muk guys in Busse Combat forum about hounding Rat for them to release it ;)

maybe a ZT 0350. its pretty beefy IMO.
