I received my CS catalogue in the mail yesterday and as much as people knock the company around here, (I do on occasion as well
) they do actually make some good knives.
I went to one of my local dealers to show him the catalogue and to get a refund on about $30 worth of Dremel heads at the Orchard Supply next door. We got to talking about the Pocket Bushman he's had in his case for the last 4 months. I'd handled it before, but I had closed my mind off about any CS knives. Last night, I read through the catalogue and now I have a much better understanding about how the lock works. I ended up taking it home, trading my dealer the Dremel parts for it
Now that I'm in more of an accumulation phase in my collecting, I gave it a second look and fell in love with it. Not every knife I buy has to be a tactical covert de-animator and not everything needs a wave cut into it.
This is an amazing knife for the price and totally fits the utility folder niche. It is a bit hard to open but once it locks, it does so with such authority that the stiffness in opening is a small price to pay. There is no play at all in the vertical or horizontal. I'm assuming that over some use and many openings, it will probably get smoother. The handle is large but comfortable in the hand. The one finger groove before the pivot will provide adequate protection from your hand slipping forward to the blade under hard use. The clip point blade is 4.5" (4.1" edge) and looks very easy to sharpen.
If you want a knife for that is strong yet simple and easy on the wallet, I think this is it. This knife screams "work knife" and has little tactical value other than a fistload or pocket stick.
