That you just don't buy anything! Has anyone else been experiencing this? I want to get myself a new friend for Christmas but I can't decide between a drop point or tanto version of the same knife..it's a Bawidamann Pogn. Then at the same time I really have been wanting a Spartan George Dagger though I know it would get way less use I just can't shake the want of it! So here I am in purchase limbo...who else has been there, what is your solution lol!?

The question isn't which one should you buy, it's which one should you buy first .

If you inventory all your knives

What does your collection need more?
A Drop point, Tanto or Dagger

That should be your first purchase of the three... For the collections sake of course.

This is what I am experiencing. I have only narrowed my choice down to a Spyderco. I haven't decided on which one yet.

I spent roughly 60-70 hours on this site, bladehq, and YouTube before finally pulling the trigger on a new work knife. I had to force myself to make a decision because I easily could have spent another 60-70 hours researching.

Yep, research is half the fun...maybe more!

I remember when I first got into Spyderco, watching tons of videos, and wanting almost every single model I saw to the point of obsessing. Then, oh the anticipation and joy when one would come in the mail...I've whittled down the collection a lot since then and fairly content now, but I miss those days. [emoji1]

Oh yeah, when you first start out EVERYTHING is new so you're thinking Hmm, I'll just make a little list. Three pages later you realize you need to play the lottery or go without some essentials. [emoji3]

Get whichever one is going to be the most exciting, and use the other one to open the package :)

I agree with all yas! I don't sell anything I buy though my collection isn't that big so far. I go back n forth between between firearms and knives a few months in each area now I'm back ready for a sweet fixed blade! I use both drop point and tanto about equal, and I'd reckon I'd never end up using the Spartan George Dagger except maybe on an envelope! I don't know I just have not been able to shake the want of the George dagger! Think I may have to just grab it, use it specifically to open other knife purchases! Good one Comeuppance!

I had one of each actually. The pogn is much smaller, concealable, and you could probably get more EDC use out of it. While the George dagger is a sweet piece, well made, great materials, F&F etc. it really has limited use. Even for the one thing that you think you will use it for, opening a letter, it is not even that great of a slicer. If I were heading into a knife fight, sure, it would be a great one to have, but other than unrealistic things like that, it's really a beautiful, finely crafted piece that will probably end up in your safe or sold. Then again the pogn didn't really fit my usage needs either, so maybe we just should try them for ourselves. Just trying to save you a bit of money.

Figure out what your needs are, as mentioned. Then pick your knife. Or if you are big ballin' like that get both. Drop point pogn would be the most useful IMO.
Best of luck.

Lefty thanks man, I'm def not ballin' I do save up a bit out of each check and like to make a quality purchase every few months. My last knife was a Bad Monkey tanto. I like the idea of the pogn cause it seems it would be small enough to iwb or belt cross draw and still fill the hand well. What can you tell me about the pogn?

I think if I'm looking for a fixed blade to IWB carry the Spartan Phrike may be a more usable blade than the Pogn..I still probably will just go with the George dagger as I do not own any daggers.
