Want to darken stainless steel clip

Have a small folder with a ss clip and want to have some chemical treatment to make the clip gray/blue so that the clip is not a bright beacon for observers. Who can do this?

On my Buck-Strider I thought that the clip was Ti so I sanded off the bead-blast and tried to heat anodize it only to find out that it was steel. So I made sure that it was clean, then heated it up with a propane torch until it was glowing red and then quenched it in water. After I just wiped it clean with a rag and put it back on. Bad scan, but check it out. Showing its wear marks like battle wounds
