I'm looking for a knife maker willing to take on building something very similar to the Schrade Old Timer Sharp finger but with a much better quality steel. I'm looking for something with excellent edge retention and an HRC somewhere between 58-62. Corrosion resistance isn't an issue. This will be an addition to my skinning collection to replace my current Sharp Finger, which just has too soft of steel for the amount of skinning we sometimes do.

Pictured below is the original model and general blade shape I'm seeking.

I'd take that on for you. Are you looking for suggestions on steel type? What kind of scales would you want? Will you require a sheath? Do you want an exact profile match or modified in some way?

Great little knife pattern, have one in my desk drawer.

I'm a fan of some of the newer "super steels" like S30V...etc, but I would be willing to bend a little and let somebody who knows more about the metals then I do make a recommendation.

In regards to handle material I'm totally open. All of my skinning is done in a shop from a hoist so I could go anywhere from a nice wood to a G10.

The only mod I would really look at might be some minor jimping at the very back of the handle, where you typically rest your index finger when skinning. Other then that, I'd be happy with a Kuraki Otd Timer Sharp Finger, if you know what I mean.

In regards to a sheath, I wasn't exactly looking for one, but I wouldn't be against it. Definitely something that could be discussed as an option.

Email sent with some options I can offer. Thanks for the consideration.

Mods, please close, very happy with the knifemaker who stepped up and offered his services and we are at a point where I no longer need any other services.
