Wanted: First 1911 around $1000

For $1000 you should be able to pick up a Colt Gold Cup. A very nice gun right out of the box, complete with adjustable target sights - very accurate and fun to shoot

I have several Colt's, including a WWI repro, which was on the recall list. I was really dreading having to send it back to Colt, as I was wondering if I might ever see it again.

I shipped the gun out last Thursday via Fed- EX 2nd day, and the gun was delivered back to me a few minutes ago -

IMO - That is what customer service should be!

The best 1911 pistol for $1000 is the STI trojan. This comes from a guy on glocktalk known as Bac123 who has about 80K in 1911s. It is better (more accurate, better tolerances, ammo feed, build, etc. than Springfields and Kimbers in that price range.
 
I remember seeing a Colt 1911 NEW at an Academy store here in town and it was about $700-$800 and that in my opinion would be the one to get it is nice because it is plain which you do not find all to often unless you go with the GI spec.
