i know this is going to get re-directed to the sales department, but i wanted to post this here so hopefully someone replies (the sales have got no action...)

i am a very amateur knife maker, and live in a city apartment, so as you can imagine my shop the kitchen table when the wife is not around... and i dont have all the tools necessary to be making blades

like for instance a fire pit...

so what im asking is if there is anyone (preferably Canadian) who could make me a blade for the handle i am working on... it would be really appreciated as i have no means of making blades and am completely addicted to making knife... well i guess handles(for now)

i will leave my email. the blade does not have to be anything fancy, all i want is a good high carbon steel so that it keeps an a good edge, i even have the pattern drawn out and everything.
(i would rather see some examples of your work so if you have a site or something, that would make it alot easier. i have been ripped of before on another forum and dont want it to happen again)

with that aside...

i was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on wrapping leather around a handle, i have a nice piece of antler and want to give it the ol' rustic cow-poke look, so what i plan to do is wrap some old leather around the handle and oxidize the antler. just wanted to know if i should to cut a groove in the knife where the stitching for the leather would sit, and or glue the leather on...

(a good example of what im looking for is this Dan Winkler knife)

(preferably Canadian)
I'd like to help you out but two things are going against me
( though some US people think Maine is part of Canada :D )
I'm not Canadian , well mostly not.. only half Of my family came from halifax..
and way behind in orders.. though I have to make one very soon similar to that blade.. I could possibly make two at the same time..
if you don't mind 1095 which will do you well if you take care of it..
other wise no biggie..

thats not quite the blade i wanted, its similar, but different. i was using the picture as an example of the leather wrap.

if your busy, no worries i can always email you later on if no one else bits there is no real rush as i am not quite done the handle yet.

thanks Dan.

Im willing to try for you, I live in Bc

I have no clue where you are but if your local we could even work on it together

Dan, I've got a friend who swears that anything north or Portland is part of Canada. Of course, he's from Florida, so I respond that anything south of Tampa is a part of Cuba ;)

the profile is not a problem the steel is the issue when I'm adding one in on a current job. it's much easier/faster to do two blades from the same steel heat treat wise..

it looks like you'll have plenty of help  :)

unless you want it made from 1095 in 5/32" and want it heat treated here.
I have plenty to do anyway..
