Some like vulcanized fiber on a full tang knife, and some don't. The merits and disadvantages of vulcanized fiber also called fish fiber has been discussed many times on this forum.
Many years ago I bought a large stack of thin red vulcanized fiber. It was strips 2" wide, maybe 4 feet long, and around .010 thick. I thought I had a lifetime supply, but my supply will run out in the next few months and I would like to replace it. I have no idea where I bought it.
I have run tests with a water soak on vulcanized fiber and the thicker fiber will swell when soaked in water. The thin fiber I have used has very minimal swelling and I have never had a problem with it.
I checked with Texas Knifemaker and they have red in .02. I ordered some and it is too thick for my liking. Jantz has it in .030 also too thick. K&G has rust red in .012, but I want red.
I looked on the internet and found places that sell it. One place had it in thin pieces, but they only had the grey color.
So, does anyone know where I can get some red thin fiber, in like .010 thick.
A suggestion, if you have a item you really like, buy a lifetime supply of it. Also, if you have a item you really like, write down where you got it.

Try Mcmaster-Carr if they don't have it in stock they have people who will find what you need. You'll need to be specific on durometer, color ect tho. Good luck. Lu.

Joe, thanks for the suggestion. Pop has it in .018 and I have ordered some. I hope it will be thin enough.
Lu1967, the McMaster-Carr suggestion is a good one. if .018 is too thick I will try them.

I bought some from Sheffield knife supply. I think it was around .020 though.
